Two movies. One scene. Two lines:
"I love you." "I know."
*sniff* Gets me right here, man.

An old favorite: Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken--the scene where he finally forces her to come to terms with her blindness was very tender and well acted, not corny or sentimental like it could've been.
And more recently Pride and Prejudice (yes, the one with Keira!): the scene of Lizzie's and Mr. Darcy's first dance, where they're exchanging strong words about Wickham and there's all that tension bubbling just beneath the surface and they're finally making eye-contact and the other dancers just sort of fade away and they have that prolonged moment where you can feel the romantic chemistry...sigh...(I haven't given away any important plot points here for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.)
Dwanollah--which movies??

Well, I'll just come up and get my dork card stamped - it is a tv movie, but whenever I'm feeling schmoopy, I'll crank up the Anne of Green Gables movies and fast-forward to all the scenes with Gilbert (I may pause to watch a Matthew scene or two, because I love Matthew/Richard Farnsworth).
I also really like The Age of Innocence for some reason - not sure why, since I generally don't like Wharton or that type of "romance" in general. I guess it is because Daniel Day-Lewis does angst so well and there are a few surprisingly hot scenes in it - when I saw it in the theater, several people audibly gasped when DDL unbuttons Michelle Pfeiffer's glove.
On the Jane Austen front -- I love Sense & Sensibility. I love Ang Lee's direction, I love Alan Rickman, and I love Emma Thompson in the scene when she finally breaks down in the end - touching and funny.
And believe it or not, I love Emma - the version with HRH, Gwyneth Paltrow. Great supporting cast, and it is just light and frothy.

Well, I guess I can see that. And actually, now that I think about it, I do enjoy that scene when Leia first gets him out of the carbonite and he can't see and he's like, "Who are you?" and she goes, "Someone who loves you."
Damn, you're right Dwanollah...it is kinda schmoozy! ;D

*dreamy sigh* I'm not a big typical Romantic Movie fan, so yeah, the deprecating "I know" makes it both touching and bearable for me. Lather! Rinse! Repeat!

I'm not sure if it really qualifies as a romantic movie per se but the my favorite love story is actually in a teen movie: Say Anything.
The scene where he's shaking because he's so happy always gets to me.

stargirl, 'You have bewitched me body and soul and I love...love you'. I fell a little in love with Mr. Darcy there, I have to shamelessly admit. I feel like parmegian now. ;D

Hee. I totally do this too- especially with Anne of Avonlea. I love the score for those movies. Sigh. I just went into warm 'n fuzzy overload.
