Laurence Fishburne was in a tiny role in "The Color Purple". He's playing the piano that Harpo's ferrying over to the juke joint. I don't think he has any lines. He's also in an episode of "MASH". Actually, "MASH" owns this thread. It lasted forever and they had tons of speaking and non-speaking guest roles to fill.

I was watching the end of Mystic Pizza last night and was surprised to spot Matt Damon as the little brother of whoever Julia Robert's rich boyfriend was. I didn't realize he's been in acting that long.

Someone had pointed out somewhere that the Matt Damon's father in Mystic Pizza also played his father in School Ties.

Speaking of the early Julia Roberts ouvre, Liam Neeson plays the older music producer guy in Satisfaction (aka The Girls of Summer) and Jason Alexander plays the rapey guy in Pretty Woman.
Kevin McKidd from "Rome" and I guess he's now on "Grey's Anatomy" played Tommy the football/soccer superfan in Trainspotting.

I didn't realize he's been in acting that long. Oh, good one! I'd forgotten about that one. I just remembered Matthew Modine as the rapist in Hotel New Hampshire and Robert Downey Jr. as one of the mean boys in Weird Science. And Kevin Spacey as the thief in Heartburn and the slimy limo guy in Working Girl.

For the longest time I couldn't figure out why I recognized Simon Baker, and then I realized he was the young gay actor who got killed in L.A. Confidential.

Another blink-and-you'll-miss'em: John Turturro in an early scene in "Raging Bull". He's no lines and is just filling space at a table.

I had a lot of those moments during Kenneth Brannagh's "Hamlet".
And, on a related note, Billy Crystal in "Howl's Moving Castle".

I never watched "Alf" bck in the day but I caught a glimpse of the reruns they're showing at present and noticed the mother looked somewhat familiar. Then she spoke and it dawned on me - it's Seinfeld's mum, Liz Sheridan.

Seinfeld and ALF are brothers! (sort of)
I find watching the parade of girlfriends on Seinfeld and Cheers is interesting. Many familiar faces have popped up in reruns.
