To have and to have not is great, and the chemistry between Bogie and Bacall is off the charts. From the moment they see each other you can just feel that crackle in the air. Hot. Bogie had awesome chemistry with Hepburn in The African Queen as well, even though that's a much different kind of vibe with more comedy and more about two older/middle aged, rather solitary people finding each other against all odds.

Started watching All About Eve last night for the first time in a while. Oh my goodness, how I love that movie. It's so damned quotable, and Marilyn was so lovely.

So, I just walked past my 20 year old son's room and what do I hear but "String of Pearls" by Glenn Miller. I stand there and listen for a while and then hear Jimmy Stewart. Yeah, you know where this is going. "The Glenn Miller Story with Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson's on Encore's Love Story Channel. My father would have been proud. He raised me on Glenn Miller's music.
ETA - Ok, it sucked me in. June Allyson's face when listening to the radio program after hearing of her character's husband's death just slays me.

Ok, I know this is a double post, but does two months truly make it one? Anyway, I'm curled up in the recliner today watching "A Place in the Sun" with Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Cliff. The pretty is about to explode off my TV

We will never see two more exquisitely beautiful people than Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor in A Place in the Sun. I love love LOVE that movie!
I'm wondering why TCM hasn't shown more Holiday movies on recently. I haven't seen Miracle on 34th Street or Christmas in Connecticut on yet. Maybe they're waiting.

Montgomery Clift is simply stunning in that movie. Just stunning. The opening shot where he's hitchhiking, and turns his face towards the camera... sigh. I saw Christmas in Connecticut listed on AMC coming up soon. Bummer, that damn channel is loaded with commercials. I wonder if TCM lost it? There's also a good one with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray - Remember The Night. It's a cute Christmas movie, check it out if it comes on.

Yeah, Christmas in Connecticut isn't coming on TCM this year. Remember the Night, on the other hand, will be on Christmas Eve. I love that movie. The acting is fabulous and it's got such a nice combination of elements. The scene at the judge's house cracks me up, but then the scene where Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck go to see her mother is so sad and disturbing. And, unusual for a Christmas movie, it has the "right" ending, not the "happy" ending, because sometimes there's a difference.

I also love Holiday Inn, which I see is on AMC too this year (grrrr). Seriously, did AMC buy up all the good movies?

I watched Cat On A Hot Tin Roof yesterday and I was 40 minutes into the movie when I realized that Brick was not being played by Marlon Brando. Oops. He and Paul Newman really do look alike. It's crazy how sexy they both were.

I agree they were both sexy but look alike to the point where you can't tell them apart? I just don't see that!!!
But man, they WERE both beautiful.
Watched East of Eden again for the millionth time last night. Man, James Dean was absolutely flawless. My heart will always skip a beat when I see him.
