I read an interview with her from this year, and she mentions she's been living for quite a while with her brother and sister-in-law, Lori Nicks, who is also one of her backup singers and has been since the late seventies. She seems very happy with that arrangement, as are they. She's hardly Miss Havisham or Norma Desmond.
When she's talked about Lindsay in the past, she's made it clear that while she loved him very much, and still cares about him, their intimate relationship is long over and she's happy with that. She's not holding any torches for him, but I feel like he sees Stevie as the one who got away/left him.

Stevie's main regret seems to be that she hasn't found a partner to spend her life with but she's at peace with that now.

The guy is just bitter and lashing out. He may know all of the details of her life, but his main goal in this interview was to moan about the way he feels he was treated. He doesn't care if he's sharing true facts or not, he gets to slam her and his former bandmates in the press which was his true intention.

True. And apparently he spends a decent amount of energy complaining about his bandmates at home too. In a Rolling Stone interview from September his son is quoted as saying "God, they ruined your life."

Honestly, dude has no perspective. He's like the Prince Harry of rock music. What aspiring musician out there wouldn't kill to have their lives "ruined" by being part of a chart topping, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted band that continues to rake in millions on tour after several decades together. What a horrible existence that must be.

I think he feels very very, sorry for himself, and he's projecting. He's been pulling the self-pity whiny crap for years now. Stevie lives rent-free in his head, but she doesn't spend her time thinking about him. Also, the NY Post is correct, he was physically abusive to her on a number of occasions, but the profile acts like he's this poor distraught man (who can't shut up about the woman who dumped his lazy ass decades ago.)
