Weirdness. And also today I read somewhere that The Munsters is being remade? With Jerry O'Connell has Herman. Say what?!

With Jerry O'Connell has Herman. What? Not Brad Garrett? He'd be perfect! I know! Jerry O'Connell is in no way, shape, or form right for that part.

The Exorcist remake is just so...wrong.
That's like remaking The Godfather.

Why is there a remake of Spiderman? Seriously, can anyone explain?

Why is there a remake of Spiderman? Seriously, can anyone explain? So we'll have something to keep us occupied until Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark makes the leap from Broadway to film?

Because Sony Pictures will lose the film rights to Spiderman unless they keep making movies involving it, and for some reason they've decided to hold on to the film rights with a death grip.

The Exorcist remake is weird because it is being done by the director of Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene which was pretty well received critically. He is young and seems like an up and comer so why do something like this?
As for The Munsters remake it sounds terrible too but it is being done by Bryan Fuller who did Pushing Daisies which I loved. If The Munsters had a similar sensibility it could actually turn out okay. Portia de Rossi has been cast as Lily Munster. I like her although physically she seems wrong for the part.

I'll give Mockingbird Lane a pass - they hired Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. I think he would have made a better Herman, but I'll take him however I can get him.

Why is there a remake of Spiderman? Seriously, can anyone explain? I get ridiculously excited for superhero movies (except Thor for some reason), so I was really eager to see the new Spiderman. I went in yesterday sort of cautiously hopeful that they did something new and fresh that would justify all the remake hype . . . but no. I mean, it was fine. Maybe slightly grittier than Sam Raimi's version. My mind was not blown. Also, from some preview clip I saw, I thought they were going for a new interpretation of the SM "origin" story -- there was a clip with Kurt Conners talking to Peter Parker where he says something like "You don't think it's an accident that this happened to you, do you?" Like, maybe his father's work as a scientist involved experimenting on himself in a way that was passed on to his son or something. I kept waiting for that scene, and I guess it was cut from the movie. (Don't know if I needed to spoiler that, but better safe than ruining the movie for people.)
