I just tried to watch the Masterpiece version of Little Women and couldn't get through the first episode. Why can no one make a decent adaptation of this book? Seriously, Hollywood, Katherine Hepburn and Joan Bennett was the best you could do? That version wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, either. Not the fault of the cast. Bennett made Amy spoiled but still likable; Hepburn was the only Jo who could say "Christopher Columbus!" even remotely believably. True confession: I keep a DVD of the Susan Dey version. I'm a loyal Trekkie, but The Shat as Professor Bhaer will never not be funny. I remember liking the 90's version with Susan Sarandon and Winona Ryder a lot. But haven't seen it in years.

I wanted to like this version and thought with the extra hour that we don’t usually get with a movie, it would really “get in there”. It’s a long book and there’s a lot going on. The second half in every version seems so rushed and this one was no exception.

Greta Gerwig is remaking Little Women with Meryl Streep, Emma Stone ( ), Saorsie Ronan, and Tim O'Tay Chalamet. No, thank you. This is not necessary. The Gillian Armstrong version with Winona Ryder and Christian Bale is the gold standard. It even beats the Kate Hepburn version. We also just had a PBS adaptation with Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman's kid. Greta has done some really interesting original films. I loved Lady Bird. She's a good writer. We don't need another remake/literary adaptation, but some original stories would be great! I like Sarosie Ronan, but this all seems like stunt casting. All of these people are "hot" right now.

Yeah, I don't feel like the world needs another version, especially considering the PBS one was not that good anyway.

And the PBS version should have been better than it was. It was 3 hours, time to really get into the material, but I felt it was just hitting the highlights.

Can someone explain to me the obsession with Batman films? Why is this particular character constantly being rebooted? How many iterations of this story are possibly out there? Now we’re getting a reboot with Robert Pattinson. Why? Who asked for this? I’m so sick of this character.

I think, but don’t quote me on this, but I think that all those types of movies have to keep rebooting every couple of years. Otherwise the studios that own the licensing can stand to lose the titles to another.

Batman is my favorite DC character but...yeah. It’s been done to death. Michael Keaton and Kevin Conroy will forever be my Batmans so I’m done with all this reboot nonsense.
And besides, the success of Wonder Woman and Aquaman proves that people are very interested in DC movies about characters other than Batman and Superman.

I know that's the case with Spiderman and Sony--and that to get the Tom Holland Spiderman Sony had to "loan" the character back out to Marvel. The Roomie and his brother are comic book nerds. I don't know if Batman and Superman are the same. I mean the thing with Batman is that it's ALWAYS the same damn origin story--and we want and need something new.
