TMZ says Britney's day-to-day life is being overseen by her attorney, Matthew Rosengart, and her manager, Cade Hudson. (And Harvey Levin says they actually are not worried about Britney and thinks she's doing ok.)
She just hired two new household staff members, one of whom has a medical background and is there to make sure Britney takes her meds. Rosengart and Hudson are trying to find ways to keep her occupied and get her out of the house. Sounds a bit like the conservatorship, except voluntary.
But how much are her lawyer and manager being paid, and who is making sure those bills are appropriate? People thought her conservator(s) were stealing her money by taking a salary and expenses, but lawyers don't work for free (or cheap, usually). People were also outraged that she still had a manager on the payroll despite being semi-retired...well, why does she have a manager now?

So...after all this, she still has a de facto conservatorship in place, is that it?

Gosh it's almost like she's not capable of living independently. Who'da thunk?

What was the purpose of the Free Britney movement in the first place?

They were online "fans" who had no real insight into her actual life and circumstances. They truly believed (I think) she was being held captive by her father so he could steal all of her money (or something). This was fed by the fact that Britney herself would feed into this narrative. For some reason people took much of what Britney said at face value- even when it was clearly part delusion/exaggeration. Things like she had "never" been on a vacation and was being held in her house for 10 years. (nevermind the countless photos/posts of her in Hawaii, Mexico, etc all the time). Things like she was being "forced" into therapy sessions every day for 8 hours a day and they were "stealing" vials of her blood. She is not mentally with it- but people took her word as gospel for some odd reason.
I think it was made worse by many many people not really understanding just what a conservatorship actually is. I saw a LOT of comments like: "it's been 10 years, that's long enough!". As if it should have only been in place for a few weeks/months. That's not (in many cases) how conservatorships work- they are often put in place for adults who are unable to care for themselves. That need doesn't magically just go away. Sometimes it does, with medication/treatment. Often it doesn't. But people who had no idea were very vocal.
Ultimately the court decided to remove it. I really think that was, in large part, because of Britney's wealth/access to resources. She is very clearly unwell and needs help to actually be a functional adult. But she won't end up on the streets/living off of garbage - not anytime soon at least. At the same time, based on her behavior and without anyone actually handling her finances and life, I would absolutely not be surprised if she spent most of her fortune on skittles and troll dolls and ended up destitute.

Britney’s money had already been lessened a lot. I don’t think it would take a lot for her to be in serious financial trouble.

I agree OnyxRose- but her version of "serious" financial trouble and most normal people are quite different. She has her music catalogue (that she would get money from monthly). She has a home worth 14 million. Legal documents from 2021 put her net worth at 60 million.
That's a lot of money, but it is also not hard to blow through that $$ when you have no financial aptitude. Even if she did blow through it all- I would guess that would take a couple years. (I honestly would not be shocked at all if this happened). I'm talking living on the streets eating out of dumpsters poor.

I wish people would remember that we don't know Britney's mental health issues due to medical privacy laws. I remember Britney's 2008 meltdown. She probably did need a conservatorship at the time.
I also can't understand journalists interviewing Sam Lufti or that paparazzo she once dated, as if they were good, well-intentioned people.

Jamie Lynn Spears is on Dancing with the Stars and they haven't mentioned Britney even once. It was like a gigantic elephant in the room, they went over her career on Disney channel and showed Lynne in the audience, but no one spoke of Britney. I wonder if she has had any public reaction to her sister being on the show?
Also, Jamie Lynn is a surprisingly bad dancer, I guess I assumed both daughters had dance classes and all that since they were both being groomed for show biz, but clearly not.
