She's 18, so yeah, there's a good chance she would be underage in the tape. Even if she weren't, I'm sure her rep would say that she was in order to get the tape off the internet.

Is there some sort of Disney "race to the bottom" contest going on. WTF is the House of Mouse doing to its members*. Jeez.
I know a lot of this is "kids/teens being kids/teens". But when you compare the fuckeduppedness of Disney's all-stars vs Nickelodeon's there's no comparison. Disney is a breeding ground for ruined lives and shattered dreams.

Other than Britney, Demi and Miley there really hasn't been anyone else involved in that multitude of scandals. Demi was fucked up before she even joined Disney and the Cyrus and Spears clan are just hillbilly trash. The only Nck star that rivaled their popularity was also of the clan Spears and she got knocked up so I would say that's more of just the family being fucked up and not knowing how to deal with fame than having to do with the company itself...for the most part.

There's Lindsay Lohan, too. But, again, fucked-up family. I want to say that numbers are a factor--that Disney produces more stuff and hires more child actors, although looking at Wikipedia, Nickelodeon produces more TV shows than I was expecting. (I don't know, I haven't watched kids' TV since the days of Pete & Pete.) But still, Disney's tween stars do movies and albums and concert tours and are merchandised to the nth degree. That's gotta be tough to deal with. |

Well there was Vanessa Hudgens who had the naked pics, but she has been pretty tame since then. Some might argue that Christina Aguilera has turned out to be pretty effed up too (especially in the Dirrty days). There is also Fergie who was on Kids Inc. and has admitted to a methhead past but is supposedly clean now. And you could technically consider Lohan, who was in several Disney films, to be one of their child stars. I think this might have more to do with the fact that Disney just has more child stars than anyone else, so naturally some of them are going to go off the rails. I can think of just as many who seem to have turned out okay: Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Keri Russell, Hilary Duff, Zac Efron (and the rest of the HSM kids for that matter), JC Chasez, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Raven Symone, and the Jonas brothers (so far). |

I just think it's a numbers game and the fact that Disney stars are way more prolific than their Nick brethen. I mean, who's checking for Miranda Cosgrove? Not that many people.

But seriously, when the Disney people go off the rails, they go full tilt boogie. Lindsay, Britney, Miley's getting there, and Demi will hopefully pull it together. Vanessa flashed her bits. Kirsten Storms got a DUI. PAB ripped off Janet Jackson's bra. One of the Cheetah Girls had nude pictures leak. And the girl who played Hilary Duff's bff got hooked on heroin. I'm sure I'm forgetting some. For some reason the Nick stars scandals are nowhere as huge and damaging. The only one I can think of that got major media attention was Shia LaBouf's drunken Walgreens arrest. And he was well past his days being known as a Nickelodeon star. I wish HW would do some sort of pre-screen with the parents to see which kids come from families where trainwrecks are prone to happen.  |

When was Shia a Nick star? If anything, I would classify him as Disney because of Even Stevens and Holes. Was he a on a Nickelodeon show and I have just forgotten?
I totally forgot about that Lizzie McGuire chick. Her name is Lalaine and I think she is a Cobrasnake skank now. And I didn't know about Zenon getting a DUI.
As far as Justin Timberlake goes, I think he has turned out pretty well for a child star. People can say what they want about his PAB tendencies and the whole Super Bowl fiasco, but he stays out of trouble and seems to be a hard worker respected by his peers whose considerable success has been well-earned. I'm sure that's what most parents hope for when they get their children into show business, but most of them would probably be better off ending up like JTT or Winnie Cooper (I forget her real name), going to college and disappearing for the most part except for the occasional TV show guest spot.
Anyway I realize I have veered way off-topic here. Back to Demi: considering what has been said about her mother, it will be interesting to see how her little sister who plays Juanita on Desperate Housewives turns out.
