I thought Casey did really well last night. I liked him before, but he did need that reality check.

It's too bad.
Prom Queen had the best performance of the night if you ask me. Only one that even came close to giving me goosebumps. She really has a great voice and very good control of it.
But man....she's either on drugs or completely dumb as a rock. Either way...Uncle Nigel just has to be cringing at this point every time she opens her mouth. Who knew it was really her rather than James he had to be worried about so much...

Yeah, I agree that they just shouldn't let Lauren speak. I know that she's young, and probably just thinks she's being cute, but wow. She's embarrassing when she speaks. Her performance was really, really good though. I cringed when she said she was doing that song, but she pulled it off.
I agree with you about Scotty, margo. I was hoping he'd sing "Honky Cat" or something like that and switch it up to country. He did okay, and the shout-out to grandma was cute, but overall underwhelming. Also predictable and underwhelming: James doing "Saturday Night's Alright." I totally called that before the show even aired. James is entertaining, and he has had some good performances, but IMO he's yet to prove that he can actually sing. Same with Paul- I wish he'd cut the Rod Stewart impression for one performance and show what his REAL singing voice is like. I totally agreed with J.Lo when she said she's waiting for him to push it a little further.
Haley was not that good. Then when the judges praised her, she looked waaay too proud of herself. She really gets on my nerves.

I watched the full show last night for the first time in ages and was pretty underwhelmed. I do think Lauren sang the best but should never be allowed to speak in public. That Jacob was ridiculous and melodramatic...if that's "restrained" then I don't want to know what isn't.
Am I the only one who doesn't hear anything special in Pia's voice? She's got the looks so they give her props for a so-so talent just to keep her around. She also seems too far up her own bum for my liking. I bet she's a raging bitch behind the scenes.
And someone needs to tell Haley she's confusing growling with singing, which is never a good thing. I hope she goes tonight, she's smug and talentless and that's the worst combination of all.

Was that Lauren or Tammy Faye Bakker on stage crying? Talk about mascara overflow.
By the way, no surprise on who went home. The only problem is you go from the sublime (Pia, Stefano, Scotty) to the ridiculous (Jacob, Paul).

Does Marc work for Idol every week now? Eh, I shouldn't be surprised JLo got him a job there.
"Collard Greens and Cornbread"? The dress? The hair? Mess. How long has Fantasia had those braces?
I pictured Elton John watching the results show and going, "See, I told you Idol was racist a long time ago!" Four women of color going home in a row. It's not entirely America's fault since people voted Casey off last week and it was the judges who kept him in.

Thia had the bet pitch control of any contestant other than Pia (Pia & Thia, they could be a duo!), but she was so overwhelmed by the enormity of the show. Deer in the headlights. In the Hollywood rounds, I thought she could actually win the whole thing, but she just got smaller and smaller each week. She could still make it as a teen star with the right handling. That girl's face is made for Disney.
Naima's voice was all over the place but I will miss her DYI creativity. Pia's perfectly coiffed beauty queen thing is so, so boring! Naima wasn't afraid to take risks. Sometimes she was laughable but she was always memorable.
I would never in a million years have thought Hailey'd make it this far.

Mr. d thought Fantasia was actually Chris Tucker dolled up for an April Fool's joke.
I was so impressed with the poise that Naima and especially Thia exhibited last night--I'd have much rather have seen Haley and Paul go before those two. Our Little Miss Ultimate Supreme, on the other hand, with the hysterical crying, was just an embarrassing mess. Have you noticed that she's ALWAYS the first one told that she's safe? ALWAYS. I guarantee that if she ends up in the top 3 and manages a successful career out of all this, she'll end up like Britney in five years. She can't handle this emotionally.

Haley would have been decent, had she done "Crocodile Rock" or "Honky Cat." Pia and Stefano bore me, I hate Paul's voice, and Scotty, Jacob, and James are all sort of one-trick ponies. That leaves who? Lauren gets on my last nerve, so I guess for now, I'm hoping for Casey to do well.

Lauren does strike me as the Idol Contestant Most Likely to Go Shoeless in Gas Station Restroom. If her mother's hairstyle is any indication, it's an inherited trait. I know Fantasia has her fans, but to me she is just about the most repugnant creature to have ever graced the Idol stage.
