Any show that ends with a montage set to Neko Case is automatically awesome.
Someone smarter than me was commenting on another forum that they think the title of the show will end up having a double meaning. The killing refers to Rosie's death of course but could also mean a pile of money that someone could make that Rosie's death is somehow tied to. I think that is a good theory. And hopefully it will tie to the political plot in some sort or meaningful way. Right now Billy Campbell's character seems way too idealistic. Like refusing to remove the teacher suspect from his ads? That goes beyond naive to completely stupid. I really hope there is another reason behind that.

No one watched this week? I still think the teacher is a red herring as it seems far too early to have a good suspect. I don't know what to make of the neighbour's claim he saw the teacher and another woman bundling a girl into a vehicle. I was under the impression that the neighbor wasn't quite right in the head and not a reliable witness. Since Rosie didn't die until after she was locked in the trunk, whatever might have happened at the teacher's house that night didn't kill her. I'm curious about the teacher's sister-in-law making a racist statement about him. Was that ordinary dialogue or a clue?

I'm still watching, but I just don't like the way they only get to any of the "good stuff" until the very end of the show. It's just a lot of stuff dragging on and on and on.
And why is it pouring rain every day in Seattle? Sheesh.

I wish they had started this in June, when many other series had finished. I missed the first few episodes, so it seems pointless to watch now, even though it sounds intriguing.

Even though the episode seemed to drag a little at times, there was actually a lot going on for once. I hope though that Holder being a drug addict wasn't supposed to be a big secret because even I saw that one coming for a mile. But it's good that he and Linden are finally somewhat on the same page. I also liked that both were told how useless they were so far.

I actually think this would be a good show to watch in one or two marathon sessions after the whole season airs. Some of it is good but there are also some really boring parts, I think it would be less noticeable though if you were watching all the episodes back to back. It would be hard to avoid finding out who the killer was though. I felt that way about the mayor's scandal. That the big secret was pretty tame. The way they were acting like it was too dirty to expose that. And it was an affair with an intern? Really? Not even a boy intern? I find the whole terrorism/Muslim thing a little frustrating since it is so obviously a red herring. I think it will turn out the teacher was helping abused girls escape from Somali to the US. That would explain the passport comment and the secret bedroom. And then Rosie's shirt could be something she donated to the cause. I am really sick of Linden's god awful sweater.

I caught up with this all over the weekend. And, seriously, the biggest problem is that we still don't have a sense of Rosie Larsen AT ALL. I know AMC went all Twin Peaks with the marketing campaign of "Who Killed Rosie Larsen?" but, girl, I knew Laura Palmer. She and her identical cousin were a friend of mine and, you, miss, are no Laura Palmer.
The problem with Rosie being such a cipher is that it makes Ma and Pa's endless sadness -- which, given the timeframe and, you know, your daughter being brutally murdered is being dealt with in an understandable, realistic way -- seem vague and bland rather than specific. Don't get me wrong, I think Forbes and Sexton are doing a great job. But it feels generic - here's the shot of the stoic dad secretly crying. Having rewatched it all recently, one of the things that Twin Peaks did so wonderfully was, even as it went absolutely insane with the tone, it made Laura so palpable a character that the audience felt devastated by her absence as well and her loss so specific to each character and how they dealt with that grief.
I am so used to seeing Michelle Forbes as a HBIC cylon-killing crazy or, you know, a power-mad maenad that having her be so vulnerable and sad is throwing me for a loop.
One of my pet peeves is uglifying characters because it's "gritty" or "realistic." Like it would ruin the realistic tone if the characters looked nice or, say, the makeup department did something about how craggy Billy Campbell looks*. Mirielle Enos is SUPER pretty in real life, guys. (Also, supernice. I canvassed her for gay marriage and she donated, even though her husband - Alan Ruck! - had just given a week earlier). I guess there probably isn't much point in applying a lot of makeup or doing one's hair if the neverending rainy torment of Canada Seattle is going to drench that effort away. But, yeah, maybe she should change her outfits. I wouldn't take her seriously as an authority figure in her endless mopey emo sweater of sadness.
I am, however, totally obsessed with Kinnaman as Holder. He's weird but I am so captivated. Also, that accent!
* - I've mentioned it in that show's thread, Castle's Beckett is the most ridiculously gorgeous of the three lady detectives I sporadically watch on procedurals (her, Bones, Olivia), but is also the most three-dimensional now because of decent writing and good acting.

Well, there it is. Duh-aym!
Don't mess with Mr. Larsen! He's pretty f-ed up. Well, it looks like his whole family and those he associates with are pretty much f-ed up, too.
I never really thought it was Bennett, either. It's way too early in the game and they have been spending too much time on him to make me believe it to be true. Now he's dead (or seriously close to it) and all he was doing was protecting girls from female circumcisions?! Ugh. WTG, Larsen clan.
I get that Rosie was their daughter, but who just completely jumps the gun like that and never really know if they have all the facts? Plus, it's pretty messed up when the entire school writes "KILLER" on your white board and all the kids leave your class and the teachers want you gone. All for someone that never was in police custody? Harsh!
It looks like we may be getting more direction into who was really involved with Rosie's disappearance/murder next week. I'm curious if the current Mayor is involved somehow?

Poor Bennett. I hope he makes it, but he looked pretty lifeless there at the end.
Has anyone been checking out AMC's website, with the weekly suspect tracker? The discussion threads there have me absolutely convinced that Linden's fiance is the killer.

Wait, so he murdered Rosie to, what, ensure that Linden never gets to Sonoma and is sabotaging his own impending nuptials? Because murder is easier than simply dumping someone?
