I absolutely loved this season. I just finished the last ep about 10 min ago so I have to let it all sink in, but I didn't mind seeing where they both ended up. I have such a crush on Kinnaman as Holder it's embarrassing (like I'm about to start S1 again just to relive his arc embarrassing).
St. Georges? Worst. school. ever. I hope the actor playing Lincoln enjoys his niche b/c he's f*cking perfect at it. Jesus. Half the time I was just praying that the writers were taking creative license with the hazing, b/c half those kids are gonna grow up to be psychopaths.
Joan Allen? Perfection. Love her, can do no wrong, etc.
I was stunned by the ending. I had no idea who the killer was, just that it was going to be f*cked up, b/c that's how they do on The Killing!
I also read that JK was super excited to be able to drop F bombs for Netflix, so I found myself cracking up at inappropriate times when he'd go on a cursing tear. But it certainly was more realistic (although I think they could say stuff like asshole, bitch and shit on AMC, no?).
I'll always wonder how the show might've progressed if they'd wrapped up Rosie Larsen (sp?) in one season. People's gripes about s2 is what brought me to the show, to see what all the fuss was about. Lastly, yay for Seattle. It was rainy and dreary but cool to see characters outside of LA, NY and Chicago for a change.
eta: Bullet... (heart breaks again)

I just finished the season and enjoyed it. Yeah, the ending did seem tacked on but I kind of appreciated it. One thing I didn't understand: Spoiler How did Kyle wind up living with his dad, who didn't want him, and not his mom, who followed him around? I wish they'd explained that better.

Wasn't it last season or S2 when she was so caught up in police work she was neglecting him? Spoiler: {Spoiler}I think he admitted that was a lie about his dad; he used it to try to get his mom to step up her game, believing she needed his company.

Sorry--I meant Kyle, Joan Allen and Stansfeild/Stanson (name?)'s son who was the central character. I couldn't figure out that situation--they didn't explain it well enough. Kyle hated his dad, his dad didn't like him...why not tell Kyle Joan Allen is his mom and let those two live happily ever after?

I didn't get that either. Maybe it had to do with the career choice involved?

I thought it had something to do with blackmail against Joan Allen's character? Kyle lived with his dad (he would have been the first born child for his family and a son to pass on the name and all) without any knowledge of Joan and the details of what she did in the war were kept on the DL. *shrug*
I think that's why Kyle's "mom" was so odd with him. And I think that since Kyle never met his dad's expectations, he grew to dislike him.

After only watching season one and the first two episodes of the second season, I decided to give the new one a chance after reading up on the third season. Why couldn't the show have been like this all the time? The pacing was great, the case was good and there was some effective detective work done, at least sometimes. What I didn't understand: {Spoiler}I get why the other two kids wanted to know how much Kyle remembered but they tormented him the entire time from when he came back from the hospital. If you had just witnessed a fellow student killing his family, wouldn't you back the fuck off, especially knowing that he had amnesia? Or did they think he was faking it the entire time and wanted to scare him off telling the police? The ending with Linden and Holder was completely unnecessary and out of character for both of them I thought. It also didn't fit with the overall mood of this show. The actor who played Kyle was fantastic, the way he played freaked out and tortured really got to me. A review I just read referred to Joan Allen as the Amy Adams of the 90s because she was cast in so many movies and received several Oscar noms. I think she is still one of the most underrated actresses today. Love her.

I loved Kyle as well. Wow. The hazing scenes were hard to watch. I assumed they were purposely trying to trigger him back at school, and succeeded. I had a hard time believing boys could be that cruel to each other but who knows...

Finally got around to watching this and it was really good. Except for the ending. This is a show that was dreary and depressing from the get go. So why not let it end that way? I fully excepted, and would have accepted, {Spoiler}Linden killing herself (and buried in her favorite sweater of course) The scene with Jack at the airport made me think for sure that was the direction it was going in. I hope Veena Sud gets another shot at a series cause I really like the melancholy vibe and complicated female characters she brought to Cold Case and The Killing.
