Dang, I wish more people were watching this show. Joel Kinneman absolutely deserves an Emmy for this most recent episode, he killed it. I am SO into this season, and worry it will be the last.

I give up with the Emmys. The nominees seem to be based on inside the vacuum Hollywood buzz about who is artistic and cool and hip enough to be worthy of the honor, and that rarely reflects who is the most talented or deserving or popular. It's too bad there other prestigious awards for TV to shake things up a bit the way there is with movie awards.
I know! She died after having been rejected by the girl she loves, pushed away and ignored by the adult she trusted, and never having found the friend she cared so much about. So sad.

I was devastated about Bullet. She was so strong. At least they noted how hard she fought...
ETA: I think the show could be renewed; this season beats last season by a mile. As long as they stick with the original theme: one central murder per (shortened) season, the class is likable and the location is its own character.

I keep reading good reviews for this new season and now they've really done a great job rejuvenating the series.
I was so bummed about Bullet, too! What a crappy way for her character to end. I would have liked it if she was able to just get banged up but get away like Callie's mom did.

I haven't watched the finale yet, and after having just watched the episode before it, I might be putting it off for a while. What a downer!! That must have been one of the most depressing t.v. episodes I've ever seen. I appreciate the attempt at realism, but there better be a point to all of this sadness.

Yes, I agree that the episode prior to the finale was totally sad. And once you watch the finale, although it is suspenseful and has some major twists (leading up to next season, I presume) it'll make the things seem totally senseless and even sadder with that execution taking place.

I have really mixed feelings about the finale. I was totally with them up to the point that Linden figured out who the killer was, and from that point it kind of went off the rails for me a bit. The whole "riding in the car talking" part, with him acting like it was all no big deal, then him trying to goad her into shooting him..... I just did not find the ending very satisfying I guess, although I absolutely loved the journey of the whole season that got us to that point.

I feel the same way, suekel. One of the problems I had with the drive around and talk ending was that they'd already done that this season with the reverend. It felt like they were repeating themselves for lack of something original, turning instead to repeats and clichés.
I almost wish they had let last week's episode be the finale, as depressing as it was. They could have just let the guy they caught the other week be the actual bad guy. I'm sure they went through with the hanging as a commentary on the death penalty and the fact that innocent people do die. The finale was pretty dark, too, but I just feel like last week's episode was a much more powerful ending.

I agree, too. However, I do think that it was important to have the finale to show that there was an actual killer beyond the guy they had in custody and the fact that the man on death row was right in claiming his innocence.
I had my suspicions about the LT., but didn't think he was the killer. Just that something seemed really off about him. As for the car ride to Adrian that turned out to be a ploy...that ticked me off. Here's Linden, a decent detective who figured out that the real killer was a cop and then come to find that it's her former (and current) lover all in the same day, only to get in a car with him and drive around for hours with no real mention of Adrian only his sick, twisted sociopathic reasons for doing what he does and uh, HELLO! He's going to kill you as he ties up loose ends. What did you think he was going to do? He just said he was going to get rid of Adrian, pin everything on this other guy, let the other man get hanged and then suck Holder into some shit with IA?
I would have just have him hand over his weapon when he did, shoot him in the leg and call backup. They'd find Adrian eventually (because he wasn't even with him! And even Holder figured out that the Lake House was the place to go.) and it'd be all cool.
But I guess then they'd have too neat of an ending and not much for a fourth season? Oh well. At least the season was a lot better than the previous ones and I enjoyed how they came full circle with this case.

My other big issue with the ending was that Adrian disappeared that afternoon. When would the cop have had time to take him anywhere as far out as they went?
