Juliet is also really good friends with Vicci so that makes her cool in my book, but I'm still meh on her voice. Out of this season, I feel Erin W. and Katrina's voices were my favorites. Let's see what happens.

I think Tony's a bitter whiny crybaby. Sorry the rest of your old castmates went on to greater glory. Maybe they are - gasp - more talented than you (ok, not Britney, I'll give you that). I don't get Chris Mann at all. Sure, on stage with pop singers he sounds impressive. Put him on stage with Josh Groban or those Il Divo guys - uh, no. I still adore Juliet, but my love is dented that she is supposedly such good friends with Raelynn. Tha hell? I am hoping Juliet can pull a Clay Aiken and turn not winning into success but who knows? Team Purrfect. I agree about Chris, he seems very nice, but for that category of music, not that impressive. I would include Il Volo as another group I'd rather listen to.

Christina routinely late for set - gets fined and has brawl with Adam LevineWonder how they're going to play this out for next season? I had a cousin that auditioned in late March and she said it's a total joke. They have you audition in front of other contestants in a small room beforehand and then they tell you right then and there if you got accepted to the next level. The only ones that did (In her opinion, mind you) were those that looked really 'edgy' and didn't sound all that great. Apparently, that's how it went for another one of her friends, too. Interesting. I thought this was more about what they didn't look like and why couldn't they have sang behind a partition or something?

HGTV and I went to see Charlotte Sometimes and Naia Kete perform on Sunday. They were both really good! Charlotte "keeps it real" on stage and jokes, curses and talks about getting dumped and the like. Naia projects a bit of a goody-goody vibe... who knows if that's authentic or not. Nevertheless, they both have excellent voices and really good original songs. And they were both sweet and stood around talking to people and taking pictures afterwards. (HGTV's FB photo now features her meeting her future wife, Naia. )

Oooh- I really liked Naia. I was listening to "Turning Tables" earlier and remembered how great her version was. She made some of the lyrics more understandable to me, and it changed how I hear the song. She did seem like a pretty sweet person. If anyone knows otherwise I don't want to know!

This thread being dormant in the midst of a season is a good indication of what's wrong with this show. It doesn't create any buzz. While most of the Top 10 this season are impressive, I can't imagine any of them going on to become stars. They just don't have the "it factor" (or X Factor for that matter). Cassadee didn't become a breakout star with her band for a good reason -- she's boring. Melanie is the only one I can think of that might be able to cobble something together, but she seems so passive and probably doesn't have the drive. I enjoy the show, but there's not that sense of excitement that American Idol once had because it seems like there's not much at stake. The "winners" seem to fall off the pop culture radar almost immediately.

See, that seems true to me, too. No one really talks about this show... but Carson said last night that they got more calls/votes this past Monday night than they did for last season's finale. So that would mean people ARE watching and invested. Why that doesn't translate into ANY "water cooler chat" is beyond me. I guess it has to do with the lack of promotion? FOX makes AI THE priority when it's on; NBC does not do that with this show at all...
I actually could see a couple of them becoming stars, though. Terry is excellent; I cannot believe he's not famous already. Nicholas David is OFF THE CHAIN and I LOOOOVE him and cannot wait to buy his first album! I hope he wins the whole thing! Melanie is good and really talented; I won't be surprised if she makes it pretty big, too.
ETA: Nicholas David has 3 albums on Spotify! (Published under "Nicholas Mrozinski.") I know what I'm listening to all day. Woot!

I wonder if it's easier to generate buzz for favorite contestants on Idol because of the format? This show has weird knockouts, and singoffs, etc., which makes it kind of hard to pick a favorite and follow them all the way through.
I like Terry, but he's a bit old rock and roll. Hopefully there's a place for him in music.

I'm all about Terry & Nicholas, almost to the point that I wish I wasn't watching The Voice because I fear for them being cut. Nicholas is all kinds of good-type weird, and Terry makes me think America really misses Steve Perry... It's time to take back the airwaves with arena rock!
