Trevin is really good, too. His song choice the other day was a huge snooze, but his voice is incredible.

I wonder if it's easier to generate buzz for favorite contestants on Idol because of the format? This show has weird knockouts, and singoffs, etc., which makes it kind of hard to pick a favorite and follow them all the way through. I like Terry, but he's a bit old rock and roll. Hopefully there's a place for him in music. I agree. Sometimes I'm thrown off by the new format. But yeah, I can't figure out why this show doesn't get more buzz. I know plenty of people who watch and discuss it.  |

See, that seems true to me, too. No one really talks about this show... but Carson said last night that they got more calls/votes this past Monday night than they did for last season's finale. So that would mean people ARE watching and invested. Why that doesn't translate into ANY "water cooler chat" is beyond me. I guess it has to do with the lack of promotion? FOX makes AI THE priority when it's on; NBC does not do that with this show at all... I actually could see a couple of them becoming stars, though. Terry is excellent; I cannot believe he's not famous already. Nicholas David is OFF THE CHAIN and I LOOOOVE him and cannot wait to buy his first album! I hope he wins the whole thing! Melanie is good and really talented; I won't be surprised if she makes it pretty big, too. ETA: Nicholas David has 3 albums on Spotify! (Published under "Nicholas Mrozinski.") I know what I'm listening to all day. Woot! I could have written this. I love Terry, love Nicholas (I think Blake was spot on in saying that when you watch him perform, it's like watching a music legend -- why wasn't he famous 20 years ago?), love Melanie. I think Amanda Brown is great, although she's not my favorite -- I like the quirkier artists -- but I think she could win the whole thing. Mulva, I love you so much for directing me to Nicholas' albums. I have been saying for weeks that I want to buy this guy's album -- I had no idea he actual had some out. I am also going to make my boss' day by passing this info on to him, because he's obsessed with ND.  I don't know why this show isn't generating more buzz, because my husband and I watched one episode on a whim and we were hooked. We're obsessed. Terry absolutely does look like a hobbit, and the accent reinforces that (he reminds me of Pippin to an eerie degree). I love his classic rock vibe and I was disappointed when he sang Blake's song this week -- c'mon, we want to hear Journey! Or at least I do. |

I don't like the judges choosing the songs. They do it on X Factor and there's a whole lot of attention and blame on the coaches more than the singers. More times than not I hate the choices. Just let the rock guy be a rock guy! Terry needs a nice rock ballad - he was awesome on Maybe I'm Amazed (his own choice).

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I really don't care for Trevin. I find him incredibly boring and his voice does nothing for me. I'm loving Terry, Nicholas and Cassadee so far. Need to check out Nicholas' music. Thanks Mulva!

The thing about Trevin is that I think he's too young. His voice is gorgeous, but he really doesn't seem to have a clue as to who he wants to be musically, and that's an experience thing.
The chick with the bow, Melanie, she's got to go. If she didn't look as twee as she does, America would have gotten rid of her weeks ago. This is The Voice, not The Look. Her attempt to make any song "her own" is always just turning into a thin folksy ballad. I know YMMV, but this is IMO.

Trevin fits the gospel singer role that these shows love to include. Mostly they end up screaming, and it's not my style.
Terry was again awesome tonight, but damn were there a lot of horrible song choices. September??? Wtf? That is SO not a singer's song.

She's got a brand going, I guess, but her voice has only one gear. It's all exactly the same. And I don't buy her twee schtick, anyway. When she gets criticism from the judges, she looks like she could cut a bitch. |
