Oh my god, word. He kills me with his know-it-all, I'm-on-the-inside thing. And between LOTR and the Goonies I loved him before that. Also, was it the Golden Globes when he comandeered the mike and wouldn't shut up about SAG and his mother and unions? PLEASE. You're killing me, Sean.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking me. I got annoyed with Sean during the first and the second of the Lord of the Rings movies when I watched them on DVD with commentary. I haven't watched the third commentary, because I don't want to listen to Sean. ETA: He's begging for a spanking during both commentaries. okay, all I was asking for was which commentaries he was acting like an ass about Orlando. That's it.

No worries, mate. I just thought maybe you were asking for specific comments that pissed me off, and I knew I wouldn't be able to supply.

Sean Astin + 30 pounds = Sexy. Sean Astin at normal weight = not so much. Weird, I know. I agree! Chubby works for him.

He actually had a DNA test prove that his father is not John Astin. It's some guy named William Tell. He does consider both men to be his father, according to his mother.
I've also heard that he can be whiney and needy. I wonder about him, though, since his mother had such a long battle w/ undiagnosed bipolar disorder. I hope neither he nor his brother have inherited anything like that. His parents also did a lot of traveling theatre when he was small, so they moved around alot. Maybe feling needed by his co-stars is a way to help him feel grounded?
Most of the info I have on him came from his mother's autobiography. What a crappy young life she had. Did anyone else know she was the one (as a young girl - maybe 10 or 12?) that broke the Quiz Show scandel and had to testify in court?

Yeah, I read that book, too. I believe his mom is manic depressive (is that the same as bipolar? unlike Tom Cruise, I don't claim to have great knowledge of psychiatric stuff); a high school friend of mine whose mom is also manic depressive recommended the book to me. It sounded like his mother took a lot of her frustrations out on him before she was diagnosed; she said so herself. I'm sure that affected him. I do like the way he put himself and his wife through college--at the time, he was really popular in Hollywood, so most stars wouldn't bother, but it was important to him. I think he said somewhere that's actually his accomplishment he's most proud of.

Didn't Sean's weight loss coincide with him writing that book and bitterly swiping at his LOTR costars and using awards shows to campaign for SAG presidency? Maybe he got sick of being lovable and chubby, and his weight loss was indicative of the new, aggressive Sean.
