I think because that would've forced her to admit her failure to strike out on her own. I know to me, moving back in with my parents would be a huge blow to the ego that I would avoid at all costs.

Exactly! She obviously loved her mother, but it's a symbolic and real blow to the ego. And, of course, one more opportunity to show how things weren't working out.

I'm not actually sure if this is unpopular or not, but "Groundhog Day"* makes me want to take a shrimp fork to the eyes. I love Bill Murray, but really don't need to see him playing out the same scenario twenty times.
*The Broadway show is opening soon and it's in the news, hence me having flashbacks on my hate of the movie.

I always try to avoid Groundhog Day because of the high likelihood of getting the Pennsylvania Polka stuck in my head.

I once spent an entire day in an emergency room with appendicitis, and it was February 2nd so TNT was playing Groundhog Day over and over again. It was the only thing on TV that I could even halfway tolerate through the massive amount of pain I was in. So I have ambivalent feelings about it now, because it just reminds me of the uncomfortable bed and the pain. Dear God the pain.

I searched all 62 pages of the celebrity folder and couldn't find one for Kevin Smith, so I am posting here. It's been 20 years since the release of Smith's film Chasing Amy. This article from Buzzfeed discusses the film: However, then and now there were issues with how the movie depicted lesbianism: I have not watched this movie in at least 15 years, but I know I really loved it when it was first released and used to own a copy on VHS. (I also developed a crush on Ben Affleck from this film, which died a fiery death about the time he willingly rubbed JLo's ass on a rented yacht...) I am tempted to rewatch it and see if my fondness will hold up or crash and burn like my love for Mr. Affleck.

Ah, Chasing Amy...
This movie was released at EXACTLY the right time for me. I was in the midst of a raging unrequited crush with the drummer in a band I was recording at the time, coincidentally named Amy. Smart, talented, funny, spitting image of a young Kathy Ireland....
Naturally, she's a lesbian. A fact I learned/realized when I finally screwed up my courage and told her my feelings.
"'What's a Nubian?' Bitch, you almost made me laugh!"
