Does she not have the clout to say no?

Maybe she picked it. She's so beautiful though, she looks good in everything. Very classy lady.

In some pics I am seeing she looks smoking hot in this look. In others, it looks a little ill-fitting (loose in the bust, tight in the pelvic area). I think I really like it overall though. Love the hair and makeup (though, why is her one arm so shiny in the closeup here?).

The dress looks good but a bit generic. If it were black or beige, it'd be something Jennifer Aniston would wear. Ah, well. Nothing wrong with looking safely great on the red carpet.

(though, why is her one arm so shiny in the closeup here?). When you're dark-skinned, you definitely don't want to have ashy skin. I love the hair!

I didn't like the dress in still photographs but I did like it when I watched video of her acceptance speech. I think maybe it looked better in person.

IMHO I think Viola Davis is a big hypocrite. She has claimed to have been so poor as a child that she ate out of garbage cans, and is now on a commercial on TV talking about the plight of children being hungry, so she must know how it is to struggle but has now made it big, yet when her own production company produces a movie, "Lila & Eve", she hand-picks Jennifer Lopez to star with her during the time Lopez was making $17 milion as a judge on American Idol, instead of giving a chance to a struggling and talented Latino actress who may be hungry themselves, and just needs a break.
Viola knows the misery of being hungry and struggling, so if she's preaching to the choir on TV about hunger than she should back up what she claims to care so much about, and that's not giving an opportunity to a person who is already a multi-millionaire when there are so many talented and struggling actresses with children who she could of auditioned for the role, and gave that chance to.
If Viola Davis is going to talk the talk, then she needs to walk the walk, or quit those "I care so much about hunger" commercials on TV.

Are you referring to this charity? We don't know if she has or hasn't donated to charities, but I don't think her agreeing to cast JLo in a movie is an indication that she's a hypocrite who doesn't care about the issues of hunger and poverty. Even though she's labeled as producer, she's likely only one of many producers and doesn't have the kind of clout to insist on casting an unknown struggling actress. And even if she did, casting a well known star like JLo would be a smarter business decision, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. ETA: I do understand being annoyed with celebrity PSAs. This one annoys the shit out of me because some of the celebs come off as fake with their subpar acting skills and the the viewers are forced to go to another website to "start the conversation" and we all know most people are too lazy or turned off by the content of the PSA to bother to do that. So nothing learned and nothing gained. Stupid. The PSA Viola Davis appears in is far more effective. And with typing in 'Viola Davis Hunger Is' on You Tube there are more videos that make it apparent that she's done more than just appear in a 30 second PSA. She seems very sincere to me.....or she could just be a better actor than Sway and that guy from Catfish (WTF?). Either way, win-win.
