Yes, all women matter. But you're missing the point you twit, Viola Davis is the first Woman of Color in 67 Years to win an Emmy for Best Actress. In a business where woman are treated as second class citizens, and women over 40 are ignored, women of color are often completely overlooked, hell, at best Hollywood treats them as third class citizens. That Viola Davis, a talented actress, won this award as a black woman over 40 should be celebrated. It's not a "she's never been discriminated" situation, it's a "Fuck yeah! She rocks! Now how do we make this industry more inclusive?" situation.

Oh, I get it, she said that shit to get herself some publicity, because most folks probably don't know who the heck she is. Hardly any daytime soaps on TV anyway, maybe she can play a maid on Empire.

Hardly any daytime soaps on TV anyway, maybe she can play a maid on Empire. I kind of doubt it was for publicity, as she is pretty much known in soap circles as an opinionated pain in the ass. She's spouted off on Twitter on any number of "social issues" and has stuck her foot in her mouth before, albeit probably not to this extent. |
