If you're in need of a good laugh, take a look at this video of the Downton Abbey characters speaking the words to One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful. Awesome.

You know, after confusing myself reading the above excellent post, from now on I shall refer to Sybil's widower as BransTom. Anna's smart enough that she'll put 2 & 2 together about "her ladyship's soap" eventually. As a lady's maid now, with the same duties as O'Brien, it'll dawn on her. With the way Fellowes writes, it'll probably be Anna dressing down a housemaid about Lady Mary's bathroom being out of soap and a lightbulb will go on over her head... Like a lightbulb, I'm dim today...what's that about the soap?

O'Brien strategically placed a bar of soap on the floor and Cora slipped, fell and miscarried the Crawley heir. O'Brien has felt guilty ever since. Thomas told Bates to use the phrase "her ladyship's soap" on O'Brien. Bates told Anna, but neither one of them knows what it means.

I really enjoyed this season, major deaths and all. Edith, Thomas, and Tom are really who I'm watching for anyway. I binge watched this weekend and realized that's probably the only way I can view it. The pacing leaves much to be desired.

Completely agree that there is a pacing problem and that binge-watching helps tremendously. I binged on the second season over the weekend and I didn't hate it like I did when it aired. Throw in Mrs. Hughes and I'm also with you on that "who to watch" list. Nitpick moment - in the scene where Jimmy came to see Thomas in his room, I swear Thomas wasn't wearing the usual flesh-colored glove he wears to cover his war wound, and it looked like the makeup department didn't bother with adding to wound to his hand, either. It looked pretty bad when he showed it to O'Brien in season two, and while I understand that it has probably healed since then and looks better, it looked like they didn't both at all, and that kinda drives me bazoo, and it's surprising coming from this show, which is usually so good about the visual details.

I was spoiled for Matthew (seriously yet another reason I need to stop reading the DM) and I felt like knowing that made this episode just drag. I kept waiting for something to happen.
And I'm never critical of the soapiness of the show, but the every one of Robert's last lines were sooo melodramatic and anvilicious. But most of all I could have done without that last cut back to Matthews face and the blood pouring down.
I wonder if I would be sadder if I didn't know it was coming?
