I'm surprised Rooney is her middle name. I had the notion that her name was actually Mara Rooney and she switched it around, a la Fisher Stevens.
Other than that, off my radar. I most likely won't be seeing the Girl with... and I guess that's it. Back to whatever I was doing before.

Her parents are from two different football-team owning dynasties - the Rooneys and the Maras, thus the name.
I'm always surprised to see her name at the end credits of a film because I never realize it's her because she's so anonymous looking (in most films). I do want to see this Girl because I loved the Swedish version and I'll give this one a chance.

I read her Vogue interview, and I'm concerned for the woman. Maybe it is just PR spin for the movie, but the role itself is very intense, there are a couple of rape scenes, she's done a lot of body modification for the role, and Fincher seems to be enjoying acting as Svengali. I'm used to actresses boasting about their confidence and talent, it was unusual to hear someone so willingly give themself over to a story and a director. I wonder how playing this character will affect her.

Honestly I think that's one of the reasons that Fincher wanted such an unknown for the role--she seems malleable and he wanted someone he could control and modify, who would go as far (and be as explicit) as he wants in the rape scenes, who would agree to pose topless in the poster.
It's creepy and I wonder how this will translate onscreen, especially given that Lisbeth is supposed to be a feminist heroine.

Having all those piercings done in one day must have been very traumatic for her body. I think that's just mean - there's plenty of good ways to fake it. That is really suffering for your art.

So, I'm lost. What about her relationship with Fincher is weird?

Read the Vogue article. The movie must have wrapped months ago and she's still taking "direction" from him. It is a very weird interview.

I'm guessing they're planning for/in pre-production for the sequels, and that's why her relationship with Fincher is still so tight. According to the Vogue article she is also very close to Fincher's partner (wife?). I'm not surprised there's some weirdness in their relationship. Fincher's a perfectionist director (so it's said), and the character she plays is definitely weird and goes through some harsh stuff in the story. I read the interview, and yes, there is definitely some weirdness, and they're definitely very close, but I didn't think it was too nuts or unexpected considering the kind of movies they're making and the kind of role she's playing.

I think they did some additional filming after the movie had wrapped (not that uncommon these days). I got the impression reading the article that filming was still going on at that time.
