Huh. I thought Harrelson nailed it as Haymitch - for this book anyway.
Jennifer Lawrence was amazing as Katniss. After all the controversy I thought she completely embodied the character and was just phenomenal at communicating so much with so little. The scene where she volunteers and just before she goes into the tube were just electric, especially the volunteer scene.
I thought Peeta was about as bland and unrealized as the books. The books were great when you took the teen angst love out of the equation. I thought the movies made Gale less interesting than he actually was.
Totally agree with the two previous posts that discussed the glossing over the lack of food as well as the omission of the recuperation time after the Games.
As far as Finnick, I thought he was supposed to be in his 30's, so I'm on board with someone in his 30's playing him. Also thought he was supposed to have dark hair. Will have to re-read the book and see what I think.

Yeah, I agree--thought Harrelson did the "sweetheart" sarcasm very well. I liked all the performances very much except Josh Hutcherson's. He was just okay--did the little scenes fine but any emotional scene didn't seem real.
What surprised me was the chemistry between Katniss and Gale--thought it really came across onscreen in a way it didn't in the books (at least for me). If I hadn't read the books, I'm sure I'd have left the movie being Team Gale, whereas I was totally Team Peeta from book one onwards.
I've just recently finished a reread of the books, so I confirm that Finnick is described as having "bronze" hair--don't think a specific age was mentioned but always thought of him as being in his upper 20's, I guess because Katniss makes it sound like she remembers watching him play in the games, so he must be no more than 10-12 years older than her.
I definitely think it's one of the best book adaptations I've seen.

If I'm not mistaken, Finnick won the games when he was 14, ten years before Katniss goes in, so he's 24 in Catching Fire. And I really want Jesse Williams to play him now. To stick it to the racists, and because he's absolutely gorgeous.

A young Gary Dourdan is exactly how I pictured Finnick but I really don't care who they cast so long as he's smoking hot. And preferably shirtless for most of the movie.

I just remember Finnick with bronze/tanned skin, ocean-colored eyes, bronze hair and super-hot. A little hair dye or a wig and that dude fits the description to me.

Holy Shit. Grain of salt, but it's via my friend who works for the ET/Insider media complex, Lionsgate REALLY wants R. Pattz for Finnick. Fandom could explode everywhere.
(I also really like R. Pattz a lot more now thanks to the Cosmopolis trailer and whatnot.)

Hell. The fuck. NO! I will rage if this happens. Screw the crossing of the streams of fandom, that twink can't pull off the hotness or the depth of emotion needed to play Finnick.

I can't tell you honestly if he can act because NO ONE comes off well in the Twitard films. Except maybe Kendrick.

I hope that won't happen. They really need an unknown (or at least not someone on the RPatzz scale of fame) for this role. I'm not a total Finnick fangirl but I hope they can pull this character off, he's awesome. At times I thought he was better developed than Gale and Peeta. But...he's not the main character and casting someone like Pattinson would give Finnick way more importance.

Cosmopolis doesn't screen in competition at Cannes until Friday - when it actually comes out overseas at regular theaters in certain markets - but since US distribution hasn't been finalized, screenings are happening and advance reviews are leaking from foreign film mags/newspapers. Those with better skills than me can make sure the translations of this ad are correct but the praise for him is glowing. I don't think this rumor starting now is a coincidence.
