My son was 5 when JR was shot. His bedtime came before Dallas was on but you couldnt go anywhere without seeing something about it. The morning after they revealed the shooter, my son got up and, without saying good morning or anything said, "Who shot JR?".

Aw, he's my age! I remember that clearly too!!!
I read on wikipedia that Charlene Tilton is coming back too. I don't know if that's true or not. I also read that Ray Krebbs will be back, and Cliff Barnes is coming to the show for an arc. ??
The Dallas theme is one of my favorites of all time. I may actually like it more than Magnum PI--the theme at least.

In 1984 I visited the house used in the original series. Quite small and close to the road. The pool was small too. Oh, those wide-angle lenses.
The souvenir shop sold square inches of Southfork. For real. You got a deed. They didn't sell a lot of them, I think--too expensive.

I hope they don't make the "kids" a decade younger than they should be...but it looks like that is likely what will happen.

That theme song will forever take me back to Friday nights in the early 80s. Sis and I had to be all cleaned up and ready for bed, so my mom could watch Dallas at 9:00. Being the awesome mom who raised us on soaps, she let us watch the show, too. Good times. A friend and I were talking about the new show and were saying that instead of being like their respective parents (which seems to be the case), it might have been interesting if JR's son somehow turned out to be a good guy, while Bobby's kid was the power-hungry jackass. Please tell me I wasn't the only person here who practiced their "three faces" for the opening credits when they would hypothetically be cast for the show. Ha! I might have done that once or twice. Speaking of the "three faces" and late 70s/early 80s nostalgia... I love it when different parts of my childhood collide[/color].

So, I've been watching and totally loving it. The theme song gets me jazzed every time. I love all the old characters coming back for guest star roles: Gary, Lucy, Ray, Val, Afton - it's fab! I miss JR now, but the show itself is still good entertainment. John Ross is probably my favorite character - so many layers. And I ship him and Pamela/Rebecca Barnes hard core. They not only sizzle together but there's an undercurrent of sweetness to them. I also love Sue Ellen - she's such a bad ass. I know I'm not the only one watching - it's a nighttime soap after all!
ETA: What up, Lee Majors?!

I'm watching. It's my guilty pleasure. I didn't watch the first season. Don't think I missed much. I love John Ross and his relationship with Rebecca gives me the "feels". Christopher and Elena bore me to tears, but JR/Sue Ellen 2.0? Love them.
I miss Larry Hagman too. Long live, JR Ewing!

Season one wasn't as interesting - lot of setup for the series, and too much Christopher and Elena (zzzzzzzzzzzz). But, now that Cliff's daughter and Jr's son are falling in love? This is going to be some damn good TV. I feel really sorry for Pamela - her dad is responsible for the death of her unborn twins. Hopefully, John Ross will be there to comfort her. I love his cocky ass - all Texas accent and swagger.
By the way, I read somewhere that it was the idea of the actors who play John Ross and Pamela Rebecca to put the two together. Brilliant move!

Well, in some circles, people think they are dating. If they are, it shows.

How cute. And yeah - it certainly shows if that's the case. I just like the fact that Pamela Rebecca makes John Ross smile. I honestly think that it's only around her that he does - granted it's often while scheming evilly, but whatever.
