I didn't have an opinion about Kathy but this makes me like her. I also laughed at her Dakota Fanning comment during the Golden Globes (?).

I think she's an overrated, insecure hack.

There's a thread for her new reality show over on TWOP, and it makes good reading.
I've been a fan of hers for a long time. She just always makes me laugh no matter what she is in. She's actually coming to a local theater, and I really want to get tickets.
I first saw her years ago on a Comedy Central brief commercial spot where they were previewing up-and-coming comics. I still remember her bit: "Who's that pretty redhead with Quentin Tarantino...it's ME!" (She had a really brief bit in Pulp Fiction - she was the one who helped Ving Rhaymes when he was hit by Bruce Willis's car.) She's also in one of my favorite guilty pleasure Christmas movies: A Diva's Christmas Carol. She plays the Ghost of Christmas Past. Plus, she is friends with Dennis Hensley who wrote the pants-wettingly funny book called Screening Party, and she was one of the people who used to come to his parties. There are some lines in the book where I can hear "voice" even though it's another character's line.
However, long straight hair is NOT flattering on her, and I really wish she'd go back to her curls. And the plastic surgery has not been all that kind.

I thought I recognized him in the show as one of her gays.
OT: The Screening Party is a great book.

I love her. She can really do no wrong in my book, although I wasn't really digging her stint in the tower at some award show. That was a little painful. I really hate that was essentially supposed to be playing second fiddle to Starzilla.
She's hilarious, tells the best celebrity stories, and isn't afraid to say what she or the rest of us think about them. I really want to hang out with her.

Next Wednesday night {8/17} on Bravo 10:30 P.M. Kathy will be talking about when she was a guest on The View. Star didn't want to talk to her.

That was hilarious. I like her stand up routines, and I like watching the new show, but I don't think I really like her. She is not someone I think I could be friends with and from watching the show I don't think she has or wants to have many female friends.
She's made a career out of playing on her own insecurities and saying the things that no one else wil say, which is refreshing. But she's been doing it for years and the freshness is wearing off. You can't exactly remain D-List if your show is a hit on Bravo. And if your whole career is making fun of being D-List then where are you?

Oh, I love Kathy Griffin! She may not be the funniest comedian around, but I do give her points for self-deprecation and celeb-skewering. Her Allegedly DVD is definitely worth Netflixing.
One thing about that, though. While I really enjoyed the stand-up part, when viewing her behind the scenes stuff on her trip to Afghanistan (?), you could definitely see her insecurities and trying-too-hard-to-be-funny tendencies come out.

I notice this on her show. It seems like whenever she's not in her element, she starts getting really insecure, tries way too hard and is not nearly as funny. I love her stuff though. My avatar is based on her stand-up.

I can't wait to hear what Kathy says on her show about Star.
