Best of luck to her. She's had a rough several years. She said in one of her posts that about a year ago she became addicted to pills and was suicidal and that's on top of her sister and mother dying. I actually listened to a couple of her books during my breaks at work. These were both written prior to the photo scandal. Based on what she wrote she was extremely careful not to smoke or drink alcohol because her much older brother had severe addiction isdues, so the the fact that she was dealing with a prescription drug problem is surprising to me. If the accounts she provides in her books are correct she has quite the work ethic, and has always had a lot of anxiety about her financial security. Losing so many friends and employment opportunities must have been gutting for her.

Apparently she was prescribed Ambien and Provigil (similar to Adderall) when she was dealing with her career anxieties and had lost a lot of weight. She says she quickly got used to using a pill whenever she wanted to adjust her mood, sleep, etc.
She also says she has a lot of Trump supporters who continue to harass her (in real life as well as online).

Kathy Griffin has announced she has been diagnosed with lung cancer. It's stage one thankfully, and confined to one lung. She is a non-smoker, but doing decades of stand-up in smoky clubs might have taken its toll. Oh, yes, that reminds me of Dana Reeve--never smoked, but was a lounge singer for years and got lung cancer. Hers was caught late--sounds like Kathy has a very good chance of beating it. I wish her the best. As Ginger noted, she's had a helluva bad few years.

Ugh scarlet I also thought of Dana Reece’s when I heard about Kathy. How awful that was for her & her kids after everything they’d been through with Christopher.
I saw Kathy doing stand-up several years ago and she was hilarious. I would happily go see her live again. Here’s hoping for a good recovery from her surgery and that this diagnosis won’t impact her health long term.

I got to see her live and it was just awesome. We amazingly had front row seats and we get a lot of her looks at us and my affirming facial expressions back. There's so much that doesn't make it to the taped shows that are side-splitting!
When I heard about her diagnosis and then surgical removal of one of her lungs, I was so heart-broken for her. The loss of dear family members, her career being damaged, mental health...gah...that's just so much for anyone to have to go through. I couldn't imagine to do it publicly, too. I hope she makes a full and restful recovery and is able to regain some healthy mindsets and enjoy her life.
