This is sad. I seriously doubt this downfall is drug- or alcohol-induced since she's been a lifelong teetotaler, but something is definitely not quite right. I hope (but doubt) she has a good support system around her. Yes, the beheading photo was WRONG but, damn, I don't think her whole life deserves to be ruined over it.

Her sister died recently and she's looking very thin. She's under a lot of stress.

However, the Trump picture is not ruining her life. The only thing that's ruining her life is how she has behaved since the Trump picture.

I'm so sick of reading about how "the Secret Service investigated her". Yeah, big whoop. They met with her for a couple of hours like they always do. Even Ted Nugent didn't whine that much when he got his visit.

Andy Cohen jokingly responded to TMZ about Kathy Griffin "I don't know her" because he didn't want to have a serious discussion about Kathy Griffin on his way through the airport. He was doing her a FAVOR by not giving TMZ a real soundbite about her. Ok, maybe Kathy's right that Andy doesn't like her. Who is to say that Andy's dislike isn't justified?

And because of that harmless TMZ interview, she flew off the handle and made that ridiculous youtube video where she trashed everyone she's ever worked for and her previous representatives and publicists, trying to equate them to Harvey Weinstein.

I'm sure she will whine about the consequences of that video, but it's all on her. Who would want to work with her if she pulls shit like that?

It even sounds like she's on bad terms now with Lisa Bloom. Kathy made the decision to hire that horrible woman and do that ridiculous press conference, but I'm sure she'll blame someone else for it.

She needs to calm the f*** down.

If she had just laid low for a little while and let the furor over the photograph blow over, her career would not be in such dire straits. She's incapable of keeping her mouth shut when it would benefit her.

I'm honestly surprised she doesn't faint more. She does long sets with no opening act and no break, and is high energy all the way through. I saw her perform once and I wondered how she had that much stamina.

Exactly. For her own sake I think she needs to just go to the beach and chill for a couple of months. Come back with a clear head and then start the Redemption Tour. Right now, agree or disagree with the hole she's in, she needs to stop digging.

Her crisis management team should force her to take a break and then hide her phone. Ginger is right that the initial photo scandal is really not that big a deal and would've surely blown over if Kathy had just kept quiet for 6 months or so. She seems physically and emotionally fragile right now.

She made it worse by reacting so poorly. I'm sure it's awful to be so publicly fired and questioned by the secret service, but an incident like that is something she could build a whole routine around. Her entire career was built on taking awkward moments and making them funny.

She got a taste of real Fame and turned into one of those fragile celebs she makes fun of.

Kathy's opening up about her fight with Ellen. I think she must've talked about this before, because somehow I was sort of aware of it, but she gives some new details. I didn't like Joan Rivers. I view her a lot like Ellen apparently does and I think it's possible for a woman comedian not to be influenced by/ indebted to another woman comedian just because one preceded the other.

I also don't completely get the "Ellen is hateful/evil" rap that has become so prominent since her daytime show become a standard. I think she has a bit of an edge, which I don't think she tries to hide judging from the times I've seen Portia on the show. Overall, it seems like she genuinely wants to move the world in the direction of being kinder and more understanding. It's so funny, if someone tries to present herself as nice and they do kind things, if there are moments when they aren't nice or kind, then people will call them a phony. If someone presents herself as gruff or bitchy, when they occasionally do something kind, people will fawn and say "oh, they actually have a huge heart."

Not that I'm disagreeing with your post in general (and this is obviously late to the point of being unnecessary), but as I read your post, it occurred to me that Andy was probably trying to shade Kathy with his version of Mariah's classic drag.

I think Kathy comes out of that feud story sounding like an entitled asshole. Since when does Ellen need to answer to her? Even if Ellen's a jerk otherwise, I think she was absolutely right not to give those demands the time of day.

I couldn't even get through the entire article. Her bitching has become so boring it doesn't deserve to be called bitching anymore. It's just a bunch of desperate-for-attention waaaaaaaah-ing.

What the what? So Joan dies, Kathy calls up Ellen and dictates to her "do a tribute!" and Ellen declines and restates that she was not a fan of Joan's comedy, Kathy cusses her out . . . and I'm supposed to feel sorry for Kathy? Nope.
