What's the scoop on Ellen's behind-the-scenes bad behavior? I GUESS today's a good day for yet another childhood idol to be squashed... I forget which other thread I wrote about this in...but I have two friends who have worked on the show. One still is there, the other one quit. The one that is still there stays because everyone else is a delight to work with, but you’re not allowed to talk to Ellen, she is super cold and has a huge mean streak. Case in point, there was a time a few years ago now that Allison Janney was on the show and Ellen wanted her to do some acrobatic stunt. AJ didn’t want to do it, but ended up being a good sport and agreeing to it. She ended up being dropped on her face, almost having her nose broken, all bruised up and they had to rearrange the filming of MOM bc of it. What did Ellen do? She stood there and she laughed. That’s just one example.

The Kathy Griffin Festival of Self Pity, Bitterness and Blame is coming back to town, folks! She made a documentary about herself. Spoiler: It involves a lot of footage of Kathy crying into her iphone. If you're the type of person who wants to see that on a big screen instead of on instagram, buy your tickets now! She did an interview and was asked about Ellen Degeneres: Meow. (The quote continues, but I don't think it gets more complimentary. She concludes by saying she's just happy whenever a woman over 50 is still working. Mmmm hmmm.) A little refresher - the Griffin/Degeneres feud includes a lot of unflattering stories about Degeneres in Kathy's memoir, including a very obvious blind item about a comedian who has a hidden mean streak that everyone in show business knows about. I've seen all of Kathy's comedy specials, but I also grew up watching Ellen's specials on Comedy Central back when she used to wear mom jeans with her vests. I suspect if you took an informal poll of comedians and asked who is the better standup, Ellen would win hands down, so I don't think the shade is warranted.

I totally believe that Ellen has a mean streak, but Kathy bugs so much worse in this situation. It's rich for her to call upon the mythical sisterhood of female comedians when she's made her living insulting PLENTY of women in her own comedy. Ellen doesn't owe her shit.

Re: the article- a THREE hour show? No thanks. That sounds tedious. I didn't like Joan Rivers either. She WAS mean! And I don't know how much I like Kathy anymore, either. I never liked Joan Rivers. She was just mean. I remember the joke she made about the 3 woman held hostage in Cleveland. It was a stupid joke about space in her daughter's guest room, she could have just moved on when one of the young women wanted an apology about the joke. Dont apologized fine, but to then make another joke about they should be thrilled they got to live rent free for 10 years. Wow, totally uncalled for.

Joan could be very funny when she was punching up. But man it was gross when she punched down.

I’ve always enjoyed Ellen’s comedy but man, I had to give up on her game show. She really seems to have a mean streak there.

Rest in power, Maggie. Regardless of what one thinks of Kathy (despite me liking her a lot, I can see why people may find her irritating AF), her mother always seemed like the sweetest of souls. And she was HILARIOUS in her interactions with her daughter. I hope that Kathy is ok; it always appeared that she loved her mother immensely.

Shoot. She knew it was coming, but it's still horrible, I'm sure. RIP, Maggie. Tip it!
