I just had a little bit of flaking, but maybe that's because they slathered my face with some hospital-grade grease. Hmmm.
I did see a small difference immediately after, but not much now. I've got another four sessions to go, so we'll see.

Ugh, I'm an idiot. I just had my third (out of a series of 4) glycolic peel on Wed and I guess it was too soon after my IPL (3 weeks). My chin really broke out right after the peel (or maybe hormones made it worse), but my chin is really red, irritated and peeling. I went out and bought Dermologica's skin barrier repair and today it finally seems like it's past the worst, but man, I know peels can make you peel, but look away, I'm hideous!

Going for my first laser treatment tomorrow. Kanding, how long did you have to stay out of the sun (i.e., off your horse) afterward?

Going for my first laser treatment tomorrow. Kanding, how long did you have to stay out of the sun (i.e., off your horse) afterward? I've had both in the evening, so I was told to just slap on some high SPF sunblock the next day and try to stay out of the sun between 11 and 2 if it was very sunny. My skin only felt a little sensitive so I was pretty casual about the whole thing.

I was going to throw Forever 21 out there as well, all of these tops look so similar there isn't really a "too young" version unless it was covered in Justin Bieber's face or something. Also, a friend got an all black one from Macy's that was nice, might check there in that grey area that isn't juniors but isn't misses, the part with the INC and Rachel Rachel Roy stuff. I'm SURE they will have a sale this weekend!

This is indeed what the esthetician ended up telling me. The experience was interesting, for sure. I am horrified by all of the dark spots that have surfaced since the treatment -- I guess I'd have been seeing every one of them in the years to come! My esthetician (she works in my dermatologist's office) did a really good job of telling me what the laser would feel like -- gave me a pair of stress balls to squeeze to keep myself from jerking around and kept up a steady stream of questions as a means of distracting me. The only time it was seriously uncomfortable was when she was working around my lips -- she told me the light waves actually ricochet off the teeth, intensifying the pain. At the end of the procedure, I asked her about a tiny brown spot on my chest (my first there), and she immediately had me lie back down and gave it a zap (which I almost didn't feel -- funny how various parts of the body perceive pain differently). I was assuming that there might be a separate charge to work on an area besides the face, so I thought that was pretty cool. She made sure to treat two places where acne cysts (damn you, perimenopause!) had popped up and told me that they would heal much faster after being treated. Other than the surfacing of the brown spots, I see just a bit of redness, and my face feels much tighter, but in a good way. I go back for treatment number 2 in a month.

That's awesome. I wish mine had done that. Although she did murmur soothing things to me in a Russian accent, so that was kind of nice.
O.K., guys, adult acne. What works? I think my hormones are all churned up by a steroidal injection I had in my back, because my skin keeps breaking out. I've been using La Roche Posay's Efflaclar Duo, which helps, but I need some suggestions. What about Olay's new Anti-Acne line?
I got some cute tops at H&M and didn't have to endure the loud techno of Forever 21.

I know everyone's tired of hearing about it, but get yourself to a doctor and (if it's medically appropriate for you, of course) try spironolactone -- it is the cheapest acne fix you will ever find.
