Are there any weird side effects? I'm always worried that it will affect mood or weight.

Actually, MagHo, I dropped 5 lb almost immediately! They tell you when you start that you need to see how it affects you in terms of driving or operating machinery, but I never had any issues with that or with mood, either. The main health issue is that the drug's real purpose is as a potassium-sparing diuretic, so if that could be a problem for you, the dermatologist might not want to prescribe it. The reason it works against acne is that it also blocks the effects of testosterone. (My dermo explained that almost all acne in women past age 30 is hormonal in nature.) Because its use against acne is still considered off-label, you might having a hard time getting your regular doctor to prescribe it, but I've been taking it for close to a decade now and have encountered lots of women who take it. As long as your doc tells the pharmacist that generics are OK, it will cost you next to nothing. Since I got off birth control pills (my regular doc is trying to see whether I'm in menopause yet), my skin has been a little wacky (but NOTHING as bad as it was pre-spironolactone), and so for the last month or so I've been backing up the medication with a topical cream my dermo gave me.

So, I'm going to rant for a second here.
I bought some clothes from Eshakti, and after an entertaining time getting the damn clothes here (grumble), I'm returning the dresses. They're both too big, and cartoonish looking. Plus, I have to admit, the puff sleeves and ruffles? Make me look like a linebacker. They look kind of cheaply made, though that's probably because of the fact that I just pulled them out of the packaging.
I'm disappointed. The clothes look awesome on the website, but on my body? Not so much.
I also bought a blouse from them, which I think could be really cute with some alterations. BUT I also tried on a couple of dresses from Athleta, so that I could figure out where I need to get them shortened too, and the difference in between the simple clean shoulder lines, and the puff sleeves make me look like I've lost 30 lbs.

Does anyone have any recommendations for moisturizers for dry, chapped hands? I've tried all kinds of moisturizers and home remedies, but nothing seems to work. Sometimes the dryness gets so bad my hands will get cracks and bleed.

I've been using coconut oil for all my moisturizing needs (including face) lately and I love it. Sinks right in and doesn't leave your hands too greasy.

Bag Balm works, but it smells funky and is kind of greasy. I like Neutrogena's Norwegian Formula hand cream -- it doesn't take much to get results, it smells good, and you can even use it on your lips! The heavy-duty Eucerin -- I buy the Walgreens knockoff for my cracked wintertime heels -- is good for really tough cases.
