I don't know. I grew up in a mini-brood, four sibs in five years, so we were treated as a unit all the time. At least once a week we were lined up and shaken down by our dad for some infraction. "Who left my hammer in the backyard in the rain?" No one fessed up ... ever....EVER. I don't remember anyone of us confessing. So we'd stand in a line, and our dad would grill us, and finally he'd get out his belt and we'd all get smacked across the butt. Day in the life. I don't know if we ever knew who'd done the deed of the week, I don't think we cared. We weren't a bloc sticking up for the other kids against our our parents. It was just Saturday, and we got lined up and heard whatever was infraction of the week and got a swift spanking and then got to go back to our cartoons.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that kids are far more resilient than you might think. This whole incident was probably no big deal for them. "Mom's bat shit about the globe. It must be Tuesday." I'm just surprised, while reading Kate's story, that this is such a big deal to her. A kid wrecked something of hers. They wouldn't cop to it. How is this such a big deal? Worth all the angst? I mean, with eight kids it HAS to happen ALL THE TIME!

After reading that incredibly long, pointless story, I only have one question....
WTF is an "affirmative no"?

This is basically what I was thinking. Parents have to pick and choose their battles and this globe thing didn't deserve a reenactment of the Salem witch trials - Joel looks guilty! He's the bad one! A simple punishment for everyone that fit the minor "crime" would have sufficed. For all we know Kate could have done just that and decided to make an exaggerated story of it. The end of her story where the good child timidly confessed and made her so happy sounded an awful lot like the end of Willy Wonka to me.
I have to disagree with the idea that this sort of thing is no big deal and childhood resilience always wins out. I had a similar scenario happen to me in elementary school where the teacher had us all sit in a circle and tried to get the culprit to confess. There were tears and accusations and name calling and eventually someone just said they did it to get it over with. It seemed like it took hours in my memory, but in reality it was probably like 10 or 20 minutes of angst. I still remember that incident because I know now that my teacher sucked hard at her job that particular day.
Some kids are more sensitive than others and dramatic negative scenes that include guilt, and finger pointing with false accusations and name calling can stick with them. And when you have 8, the odds are more in favor of at least 1 kid being affected by stuff like this, especially if it's the so-called norm in the household and piles up over the years. But again, this globe story could have been a fantasy inside Kate's head. One thing is for sure, though, she should never try writing feel good children's books for a living.

If you ask me, the one Kate should have punished is Cara. She's the one who put Joel in the crosshairs and clearly she did it just to get Mommy off her back. I don't think kids are ever too young to learn the lesson that you shouldn't make assumptions based on who "looks guilty."

Wow, if she wants to punish them again she should just make them read that story.
My money is on little favorite Hannah peeling off the countries. It would have been genius for them all to get together and make her take the fall.
Remember when it slipped out that little tiny Leah vomited all the time? I think there's a lot of hidden stress and anxiety in that house, and there has been for a long time. Sadly, the d-bag, AKA dad, was at least laid back and fun for them. Now they're just left with Kate the prison guard. That's her real calling ... she should look into it since she doesn't have, you know, any other job.
What's up with Jon? Come on, buddy... I want to see you on a trashy reality show. Maybe he can date and lose weight at the same time. The Biggest Bachelor.

I used to think Kate had at least some business sense, but now it's clear she has none. TLC has pretty much owned her family since the 6 were infants and she doesn't even realize it. What's sad is that Jon and Kate signed their family's rights and potential profits away. This is the site. They have a link regarding TLC products that goes to a You Tube video of an episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8. Their deal is with TLC, not the families themselves. And they have every right to promote this calendar as something "seen on Jon and Kate Plus 8." EM Tanner and Co. are smart women who have started and managed their own successful business. Kate should admire them, but of course, since they no longer send her free stuff they are now to be despised for using Kate's name for personal gain. Ugh. I can't get over how incredibly stupid Jon and Kate were for trusting TLC to take care of them. It makes me realize what geniuses the Kardashians are. (ouch, it hurt to write that last sentence).

Here we go again. EM Tanner got wind of Kate's accusation and it's turned into another twit war. One of Kate's fans makes a statement regarding "business 101" and Kate, being the business genius that she is, continues to think EM Tanner is doing something "not legal" by calling a calendar Kate's design. This is a design Kate didn't create. EM Tanner designed it with Kate in mind and had it product placed on Jon and Kate +8, apparently with TLC's permission. Sounds legal to me. But what do I know? I never took a "Business 101" class. I am not crazy! My name is Kate and it is on a calendar! I must receive percentage of profits for a calendar I didn't design or create. I must receive a percentage of profits for a calendar that appeared on the show owned by TLC that I appeared on! I have confronted and been ignored ! I repeat. I am not crazy!! Good luck following this mess of a twit. Huh? Not crazy you say?? Kate has used this "so much you don't know" line with regards to Jon as well. What could possibly be the deep, dark secrets we don't know about EM Tanner? Oh, here they are. Yeah, my heart aches for the 'ppl on tv.' Now I see how truly evil EM Tanner is. She refused to do what Kate Gosselin told her to do. Pure. Evil. And with EM Tanner's threat of saved emails I believe the war is over. Is punctuation dead or what? How about tact and professionalism. Oh, well. I still think EM Tanner wins this battle. Here's Kate last word. Alrighty then. BTW, what was Kate doing while she was twitting away? According to one of her many, many tweets within 2 hours, spending the usual quality time with her kids by having them watch those "ppl on tv' while she twits away on her phone - @kateplusmy8....getting my pjs on &ready2watch @dwts! SO happy 2b sitting on my sofa w/ my girls watching No doubt this was a lovely evening had by all. I know I was entertained reading about it! (sad but true).

My brain rejects that twitter language like a bad organ.
Kate really has perfected, "victim" as her career, hasn't she?

EM Tanner is continuing to talk about this on the Facebook page she linked on Twitter.
Now Jon is getting involved.
Of course she had his permission. While Kate is burning bridges, Jon is trying to rebuild them. Now if only he could convince EM Tanner to make some manly Ed Hardy type clothes worthy of his coolness.
ETA: More twitter negativity since Kate found out that Jon contacted EM Tanner.
This is the quote they got right: if u knew what I know, u'd b AMAZED at my restraint! I don't say neg stuff oft, but wrong is wrong & It should not b rewarded! Kate tweeted.
The slant of the article was that Kate is an idiot for not ignoring her twitter critics and ragging on Jon. So what does Kate do? She rags on Jon more by saying what she knows affects her kids negatively - translation - Jon affects the kids negatively. Hey, at least this gets her some tabloid play again. I'm not so sure this kind of exposure is going to help, though.
