My dinner (pic I tweeted earlier): egg wh omelet w mush,spinach, tomatoes, onion, feta. Also, snap peas w hummus, avocado, and salsa! Yum!

First of all, the picture makes the food look gross no matter how yummy and healthy it is. At least pull out a nice plate if you're going to take a picture of it. Yeesh! I know next to nothing about running, but my instincts tell me this meal doesn't cut it after running 12 miles. Maybe I'm wrong. I doubt having a white omelet instead of a regular one is necessary, though.

Yeah, a gray plate is really appetizing. Was she a fat kid or something? Her portions are so controlled and constantly in the front of her mind... it almost looks like she counted out those peas in the other picture.

She really doesn't have a runner's body.. she very sturdy and muscular. She must be sneaking some evil bread somewhere. Maybe it's hiding under that egg slop.

I think by now you know that I’m pretty cost-effective around the house and that I’m really into saving money. When I hear the term “going green,” I interpret it as “a way to save yourself money while also saving the environment.”

The first thing that comes to mind is that we recycle. All recycleable items are specifically placed into recycle bins in our kitchen which later fill (and I DO mean fill) our large recycling trash can in the garage. Our bins are all labeled for easy identification with “Trash” and “Recycle.” My kids are well-versed on which items are trash and which items are recyclable.

Second, I use dishwasher and dish soaps that are friendly to the environment. I haven’t yet switched to eco-friendly laundry detergent but that is still something I aspire to do.

Third, I received an education a few years ago on solar panels so we had some installed. Solar panels use the sun’s energy to heat our water, which saves us money and decreases our strain on the electricity grid.

And finally, my favorite way to be “green.” I look for ways to reuse what we have already used:

I reuse used dryer sheets to clean cookware that has food stuck on it. Works like a charm!
I also rinse and reuse quart and gallon size freezer storage bags.
I use hand towels often instead of paper towels. (Okay, not always! I just can’t switch over completely!)
I use daylight instead of electric lights whenever possible.
I use plastic store grocery bags to line small trash cans instead of buying liners.
I use paper shredder shreds to pack packages.
I feed our chickens our vegetable leftovers and Shoka our meat and carb-based leftovers whenever I can. (No, Shoka does not eat spaghetti!)
I need to do my job to keep our earth green and healthy and teach my kids about preserving the earth…where someday THEIR kids will run and play!

Admittedly I'm not the most eco-educated person (what can I say, I grew up in NJ), but why would someone who cares about the environment use plastic grocery bags? Kate must not have heard about reusable grocery totes. She also must not have heard about eco-friendly trash bags.

Oh, and the comment about the solar panels is pretty funny. TLC provided those solar panels along with their free installation. On top of that Kate got a tax break. That was the extent of her education - I get free stuff plus I get paid for it? Sign me up!

Wow, she's a genius. Maybe she's learned to control exactly when the earth spins around towards the sun and has one up on the rest of us. How else to explain the sheer brilliance of using daylight?

I know this this is a petty thing to post about, but here it goes anyway.

We Bought a Zoo' is an amazing movie...We all cried! Love the love, determination and refusal to fail! (bad language was disappointing tho)

It's not that hard to find out about these things before choosing a movie for your kids. There are several sites like Movie Mom Blog for parents to get the details on why a movie is rated PG or PG-13. It boggles that someone concerned with foul language wouldn't bother to take a few minutes to get this information before watching a movie with their kids.

Damn, every time I see the thread pop up I think that Kate's finally landed a new gig as a reality show dog groomer or something.

I won't lie - I miss the crazy bitch and her antics. I hope the kids stay off TV, but being the reality show whore that I am I wouldn't mind seeing Kate and/or Jon doing some crazy shit again. I know, I know... that's the worst thing for the kids, too.

I wonder if a percentage of those pricey tickets goes towards Kate's (and Steve's) travel expenses or if Kate got money up front. Will they make a profit? Because I seriously doubt that Kate would travel to Missouri on her own dime. She probably has to drag herself out of bed to travel to Missouri for free! Hopefully this charity has loyal donors who will buy tickets no matter who the speaker is. I can't imagine another reason to listen to Kate's ramblings about the number 8.
