Reese Witherspoon's dad is being sued for bigamy

Betty Witherspoon says her husband can't be married to Tricianne Taylor, whose wedding to John was announced in the Tennessean newspaper last month, according to USA Today, because John is still married to her. The April 22 announcement said that John Witherspoon and Taylor were married Jan. 14, and there will be a summer reception in Nashville.

This sounds like it's going to get messy.

That is truly bizarre. I thought her dad was a surgeon or something. I guess he'd be retired now anyway, but in that article he's described as an alcoholic hoarder.

In the lawsuit, which is filed against John Witherspoon, 70, and Taylor, 60, Betty Witherspoon says that she is still in love with her husband, and does not want a divorce from him. Betty describes her husband as troubled -- with drinking, hoarding and money -- and she says in the documents that she believes he is suffering from early-onset dementia.

"When I confronted my husband, he said he didn't know who Tricianne Taylor was and that he did not remember getting married," she said in the affidavit.

Sad situation all around. I can't believe he tried to bring her to Reese's wedding. The woman sounds like she's taking advantage of a sick person.

That's just wild. I feel bad for all that are involved because it really does sound like something isn't quite right with his state of mind.

And yeah, why would Tricianne be marrying a man that was clearly still married? This will most definitely get very messy.

They showed video from the wedding on the local news the other night. He really seemed out of it during the ceremony. The reporter interviewed the photographer of the wedding. He said she did most of the talking while making the arrangements and such. He said Reece's dad was just "there". They also showed photos of her after the wedding modeling a fur coat.
