My sympathies to Lena for what she went through with her surgeries and the protracted hysterectomy process. It sounds like it was horrible. Suddenly starting to lactate in the middle of it is extra awful and gross. Yeah. I feel like she's trying to acquire a child to fill a void in her life. Don't get me wrong, people do it all of the time but Lena certainly has some nerve trying to adopt a child while in rehab. Just no. She does seem to have realized this, according to her essay. What I find odd is her conclusion to the essay, which is her apparent belief that the door to parenthood is and should be permanently closed for her. It's a bit all or nothing. She frantically pursued parenthood under the worst circumstances at the worst time of her life and for all the wrong reasons. She doesn't seem to be leaving open the possibility that in 5 or 10 years she might be physically healthier and in a good relationship and might want to pursue adoption in a more realistic way. Maybe it's easier for her to close that door at this point for her own wellbeing. She can't be focusing on five or ten years out, she's got to deal with the now, and that's already difficult enough without leaving this hopeful end dangling. Maybe she will change her mind down the line, but at this point she doesn't need that mental pressure.

"The collection comprises just five items: a handkerchief hem dress, a sleeveless white tank, a scalloped hem miniskirt, a blazer and a flowy yellow button-down blouse. And goes up to size 26." Yikes. Charging outrageous prices for shitty clothes that don't fit right and are not size-inclusive is already doomed to fail. Let along having only FIVE items, really makes you wonder why she even bothered.

The tank is crewneck style and dry-clean only. The blazer is very boxy, the matching skirt is barely longer than the hem of the blazer, and both of them have scalloped hems- not very nice ones, either. The handkerchief hem on the dress looks ragged and sloppy. About the only decent item is the blouse, but it's solid polyester and also dry-clean only. All in all, I'm highly unimpressed. Also, Lena Dunham is not someone I would want giving me fashion advice.

I can’t believe I’m about to sort of defend Lena Dunham. The reaction to her little foray into fashion has been so OTT.

At least Meghan's collection had a charitable component to it. So you could purchase an overpriced white button-down and another one would be donated to a woman in need to help them build a basic workplace wardrobe. And to me it sort of made sense. When you're just starting out, wouldn't you rather have some classic pieces you could mix and match with other stuff and wear over and over again vs. a statement dress or two?
Lena's collection serves a different purpose and is, in my opinion, just unattractive. Particularly the Dean & Deluca outfit that appears to be inspired by the 90s. I guess the jacket by itself could be okay, but where would you wear that short skirt with the scalloped hem? Despite being pinstriped and inspired by workwear, it's not exactly appropriate for most conservative office environments that I've worked in.

I think part of the issues some have is if you're branding it as this great plus-size collection, than go higher up than a size 26 to actually make it inclusive.
OTOH, god speed with this for her if it stops her from acting.

That's exactly my point though - MM's collection was allowed to be a standalone 5 pieces that we acknowledged could work for some people but are not necessarily for us. Lena's collection is similarly fairly inoffensive in my book. A lot of people reach for higher price points for simple classics that are long lasting and will not go out of style, and it's not like the luxury brands that provide these are known for having inclusive sizing - it looks to me like this collection fits that niche? I would buy the dress if it came in my size. I did like the dress. I am good on slumping clothes and fancy sparky dressy clothes, but when my son had a garden party wedding I failed hard. (Think school marm). I would have rocked that dress! Hmmm. I still have the wedding shoes.

All five of the pieces look typical to me, there's no flair to them. I'm a plus size and maybe I'd pay more if it didn't look like something from Cato.
