I can’t believe I’m about to sort of defend Lena Dunham. The reaction to her little foray into fashion has been so OTT. Agreed. I also don't get the complaints that a luxury line has luxury prices. I think the primary issue is: she touted this as being inclusive/for plus sized. The entire point was to provide accessible (nope- too $$) clothing in a plus sized way (also nope- size 26 is the highest they go). I think the biggest backlash - that I have seen anyways- is not about the price point, but about yet another fashion industry using plus sized as a way to act like they are inclusive, when, in fact, it's still all about ignorant privilege (and Dunham is certainly an expert in that) and not really a wonderful new plus sized fashion experience for anyone and everyone. |

You're right. And I think that's where a lot of lines go south. As soon as you start touting you're "inclusive," you open the door to having to be a whole lot of things to a whole lot of people in regard to sizes/pricing/styles. She probably was better of just saying "I'm dropping a line in sizes 16 to 26." Full stop.
And FWIT I'm actually fluffy myself (18/20). But I totally understand that in the plus-size arena, we all have different struggles.

I’m glad Lena’s thread was pulled to the top because after skimming news that she wed someone, I went to her Instagram to see if she was still as cringe-worthy as I remember and she did not disappoint with her self-congratulatory commentary on whatever she was experiencing at any given moment. I apologize that I am lazy and not pulling her most egregious quotes but her musings are all of a bunch of pretentious world salad. It’s embarrassing to read. Can anyone answer the question of why she has so many devoted followers? The verbal tongue bath she receives from celebrities in her comments is puzzling to me as well. Does she have that much clout in Hollywood?
