I find it gross that she appropriated traditions from a religion she doesn’t even follow because she thought it would look “cool” for Vogue. Replace First Communion (which is a big deal in the Catholic faith) with a Native American ritual or a Muslim or Hindu tradition and it would not fly in the public sphere.

I like how the designer talks about the "Holy Communion World" as if that is actually a thing. Sounds like a theme park you'd find right next door to the Creation Museum.

I feel like Lena also goes out of her way to wear ugly/unflattering things so that if someone comments she can make a lecture about body shaming or something like that. I remember that episode of Girls where they were on vacation and Lena's character wore a bikini the entire episode, and I mean riding a bike, sleeping in it, getting up the next day and wearing it the following day, it was disgusting but not because she didn't look good, but because it was disgusting! But I remember reading something about how it was a whole statement on body acceptance.
