George Michael Found Slumped in Car, Arrested for Drugs.

Ohmigod, that doesn't even look like him in the picture. Sad, sad, sad. While not a huge GM fan, I did love Father Figure off the Faith album. This thread is reminding me that I need to put it on my iPod. Great, great song. And I thought the woman in that video was so cool and beautiful. I also really love the video for Freedom. I'll have to see if I can find it online so I can watch it again.

What a shame. I was never a huge Wham and/ or George Michael fan, but I always had to give it up to him for having an awesome set of pipes.

“I was in possession of class C drugs which is an offense and I have no complaints about the police who were professional throughout,” Michael — who rose to fame as half of the 1980s pop duo Wham! — said Monday in a statement.

Class C drugs, the lowest category of illegal drugs, include marijuana, anabolic steroids and some amphetamines.

“I have been through enough in 24 years of dealing with the media to know what I am in for from them this week,” Michael’s statement said. “Much of it will be inaccurate or simply untrue. I can handle that, it is my own stupid fault, as usual.”


In his statement, Michael promised: “I won’t make a record out of this one — even though it is tempting.”

Oh, how I love him for taking the blame for his own mistakes instead of trying to pass the buck like every other celebrity.

George, honey, you are obviously a smart cookie. Please get your act together and stop pulling this stupid stuff.

That is a fabulous statement. You get a lot more respect by being upfront and having a bit of a sense of humor--I'm glad he realizes that.

With this and the whole Kate Moss thing--I'm a bit fascinated with the Class A, B and C issue. Is that a UK thing, or what?

I remember watching some special about him several years ago, which really cemented my like for him. He can be a bit of a prima donna but he seems like an oveall nice guy who is just trying to find a way to be happy. Anyhow, on the special it was talking about his parents who are Greek and I totally didn't see it then. But he looks really Greek to me in that picture with the dark facial hair and big round eyes. I hope he get's better.

Wow. I've loved his voice for a while now, but I'm just smitten after reading that statement. Good on you, George, for taking responsibility, praising the behavior of the cops and taking your lashes. How long has it been since we've seen the kind of behavior from our celebrities that we'd hope to teach our kids???
