Thanks for reminding me about that song. I loved it when it came out. I remember we were all so scandalized when "I Want Your Sex" came out. The local radio stations would only play it so many times per day or only at night. I remember being at my friend's house when her older sister ran in all, "THEY'RE PLAYING IT" and we ran over to the radio and all sat around it with our mouths hanging open. Today it is so tame. It isn't at all raunchy, just sex-positive. I remember, when I was maybe 9 or 10, hearing him discuss that--and then trying to understand it. I mean it was, for the time, a scandalous song. Hearing it now--especially when I'm in a loving, monogamous, and very sexually active relationship--I actually "GET" it. Sex is a fun, healthy activity--and I honestly think hearing stuff like that as a kid, might be why I have a reasonably healthy attitude about it now.

One of his many godchildren is the reality show Vanderpump Rules' guy they call "DJ Baby Muppet" at PTV. That nick name is the best thing about him. But GM and his dad are estranged, so who knows if he'll be included.

Saw a couple nice things on Twitter this morning about him: From @richardosman: From @emilynemondo: And there's more where that came from. Wayyyy more. To anyone who's upset not just about GM's passing but also 2016 being a dick, the only suggestion I have is to remember that there isn't some comic-book bad guy actually causing all these deaths in 2016 just to enjoy our misery. I realize there may be a few people out there for whom anger helps with the coping, but the rest of us would be better served to consider that there's nothing to be angry at except perhaps "the winds of fate". And if that doesn't work, listen to Too Funky. Because nobody can possibly feel bad after that song. Thank you. While the world is certainly a lesser place without these talented and creative people, I tend more to a feeling of melancholy than anger. Such is life. None of us are promised a tomorrow.

I heard that duet with Elton John today on the radio - I always thought that was one of his best. Even when I hear the original version my brain inserts the words "Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Elton John!" at just that spot. A few days late, but ME TOO!! "Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Elton John!" Love that!

Sirius XM is dedicating Channel 13 to George Michael and his music 24/7 from January 4th to the 11th. I am all over that!

I went with friends to an 80's bar for NYE, and expected to hear, and dance and toast to, the songs of those we lost in 2016. And the DJ certainly played enough of Prince for a tribute. But he only played one song of David Bowie's (Modern Love), and the majority of the songs were of the dance / R&B / Hip Hop of the later part of the decade. Not much pop, like Rick Astley or Gloria Estefan, and no hair metal either.
So, around 100 in the morning, I went over to the DJ, and inquired why no Wham! or George Michael. And he said that it was "tricky this year", but that he would play something.
5 minutes later, he announces 2 songs in tribute to GM, and played "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Faith".
And the crowd went wild.
I don't understand what he was waiting for. Of course, we weren't at some A-List place, just some dive in the Inland Empire, but still.
