Yeah. I just don't find her funny at all either. A lot of her roles rely on fat jokes or being annoying... she just doesn't do it for me. I also can't imagine being upset about her lying about her age. THANK YOU. Every role I see her relies on some joke about her being big, and/or, she is gross, as related to her bigness. Why does she have to play a role called Fat Amy? Haven't we come further than this? I have similar issues with Melissa McCarthy, who I actually do find charming. I feel like every role has her playing the fat, gross girl. I thought her character in Bridesmaids was an unfunny cliche. Why are we talking about these women's weights at all? Why can't they just play a normal role?

I see your argument, and agree with a lot of it, but I often find the fat women characters who have voracious appetites for things other than food to be liberating. Like Melissa McCarthy's character in Bridesmaids--she wore what she wanted, expressed sexual desire, and adopted a van full of puppies. It's a strange and complicated expression of the id. Rather than being the onscreen version of the person who won't go to the beach because they're too fat to be seen in public and therefore not worthy of love, they just do what they want and they embody happiness, not suffering the sad social tragedy of being fat. Fat Amy, from what I remember, was kind of direct and her name was her own creation. It's not ideal, but what I find interesting in the positive column is that they define themselves. But I haven't been to the movies in ages, and my data set is somewhat incomplete, and of course YMMV. ETA: Time asserts that Ryot, Liberty and Annachi are real. I find that the most shocking thing of all.

So is she 37 or not? I don't care, it just's a weird thing to try to lie about when evidence can easily be produced to prove your real age.

I thought she was hilarious in Bridesmaids and also in Pitch Perfect, but just like so many actors, she has her "shtick" and for me, it's getting old.

And speaking of schtick, although I like her, I can't help but wonder how much of that is just being Australian. A lot of her persona seems to be based on mild novelty. Was her Australian career in any way remarkable, or did she just translate well to US casting opportunities?

Re. schtick, I don't endure it well. So far I have nothing against hers, but I can see why it would bug other people. Along that line, I'd love to see her and Sofia Vergara in something together to see if they can take each other down a couple notches.

I actually came to like her ABC series, Super Fun Night. She played a quirky American lawyer, so her schitck was there, but toward the second half and end it felt like a very modulated version of it, just the right amount, I think. But overall, my fondness for the show was probably in large part due to the supporting cast more than Rebel herself.
