Hrrmmm...I enjoyed Pitch Perfect in a shallow way*, but does there really need to be a sequel? Look at Legally Blonde II and whatever the sequel to Bring It On is.
*a shallow way in which I acknowledge some of the troubles with the story, while also acknowledging that I enjoyed seeing a movie that passed the Bechdel test and was about women. It wasn't a great movie, but it was refreshing in some ways and uncomfy in others.

I have been seeing the ads for the sequel and I am a bit flabbergasted. So seeing a fat woman's naked nether region is horrifying? I don't think the screaming is because they think she is going to fall.
The other ad I see is Rebel Wilson telling a guy "no," but clearly trying to say "yes" with winks and body language. With all the talk of rape culture at colleges and universities, it seems rather tone-deaf to me.

I think in the first ad, the naked nether region is horrifying because they are performing for the President of the United States, not so much because of the nakedness. I agree with you on the second ad, its just awful. I found the Cynthia-Rose lesbian story line from the first movie to be very tone-deaf and falling back on stupid stereotypes also.

I posted about this in Movie Trailers, but I also really thought Anna Kendrick's "Boom!" comment about World War II to (presumably) German competitors was stupid, cliche, weaksauce, idiotic, cheap and hideous. I might have gone to see the film out of habit before the trailers came out but I'm definitely not, unless I hear that these jokes actually backfire on the characters and they have deep learning moments from them.

I really liked the first one. When I heard about the sequel, I thought it was not necessary. Then I saw the trailers and I thought it looked really dumb. I think I will wait to hear some Greecie reviews before I decide to see it or not.

I am planning to see it on Saturday, it is supposed to be a rainy day here so we are going to catch an early show, like 1130 am early. Just hoping the songs are as catchy as the first.

Interesting tid-bit I found out today: Kay Cannon, the writer, is the ex-wife of Jason Sudekis and former 30 Rock writer.

Went and saw Mad Max instead, Pitch Perfect will have to wait until another day.
