I'm tired of how the writers constantly dump on Juliette. I have a hard time believing a top tier popular country singer would be dropped like a stone by the public after one (taken out of context) comment, which she explained. And was supported by Saint Rayna.
Scarlett's voice is lo lovely, and I'm glad she realized that she is not cut out for stardom. Just have her be a songwriter to the stars, who sings in local coffee houses now and then.
The bratty daughter doesn't bug me because I think that's how a teenager would behave, especially given the turmoil in her life (secret daddy, parents break up, father remarries, stepmom is killed, grandpa dies - all as a celebrity's kid).

I know nothing about this show, but might start watching it.
The band I tour with does a number of shows every year for fundraiser events for the Firemen's Foundation. Usually, if we have an opening act, it is a guy named Andy Childs. His band Sixwire came in 2nd on Fox's America's Next Great Band. He is a great guy, and a fine singer and guitarist.
Last night during his set he mentioned his role as guitarist in Rayna's band.

And was supported by Saint Rayna.. I thought this situation was comparable to the Dixie Chicks after they made a comment about W. Bush. I don't follow country music but I do remember that being a pretty big deal. Kudos to the writers for making me root for Avery, I really despised him in the first season. OK I also like Luke a lot, and I wish the writers would let Deacon be happy. I don't think I would put down the bottle either if I had to go through some of the things he went through!

I get the Dixie Chicks comparison, but there's a difference. The DC stood by what they said and didn't apologize, even having as their last hit that song about not being ready to make nice or back down.
Whereas Juliette did not actually say there was no God (she was quoted out of context) and she gave an apology/ explanation.

But she was already battling the rumours that she broke up a celebrity marriage (remember, she made the comments to people who were protesting her concert) so she was already dealing with an image crisis. It just added fuel to the flames. Rat Scabies, I'm not a country fan at all, but this show is putting out some good music. It's worth follow for that alone. Plus the soapy goodness.

Oh right, I forgot about that socialite couple where she fooled around with the husband (who is their real life equivalent supposed to be?).
I don't even think of half the music on this show as country, at least not the twangy stuff that makes me think "country music". Scarlett's stuff, especially, is more folky ballady.

I am sick of them dumping on Juliette and I can't stand any part of the show with Rayna's involvement. But, I think the storyline with Juliette is very realistic for country music. Her statement was even more inflammatory than the Dixie Chicks statement and the Dixie Chicks' entire country career was basically destroyed because of that statement. They had no choice but to make a non-country album because country music is never going to take them back. And the Dixie Chicks were a much bigger act than Juliette at the time.

Although, as I pointed out above, Juliette didn't actually say there is no God (or whatever they got their panties in a twist about). It was edited out of context, and she explained it and had other artists - the American Idol-esque chick and Rayna - defending her. The Dixie Chicks said what they said and they didn't back down.
Maybe coupled with breaking up a marriage, country music fans are more judgy, but celebs cheat and divorce and break up marriages all the time, and don't lose a career over it. Even country music celebs. Didn't some A list country guy divorce so he could marry a Christian pop singer?
