I'm continually amazed at how. much. melodrama. this show can cram into an hour. On top of the storylines I was expecting, Layla is going off the deep end, Will gets gay-bashed, Gunnar has a sekrit baby, and Zoey seizes her chance to step into the spotlight? Yeesh.
I'm also continually amazed at how quickly things are resolved. I thought Will was going to be hurt way worse than he was. I suppose there still could be repercussions from the attackers taking his wallet and therefore knowing who he is. And that "Saddie Maddie: Rayna's Plain-Jane Daughter" tabloid article was horrible--I can't believe she goes out and gets highlights and suddenly she's fine. (Although after thinking about it for a bit, I've justified it by imagining that the stylists told her "You should do XYZ", and being able to do something proactive-and-professionally-recommended boosted Maddie's confidence.)

I like the fast pace, nothing irks me more than serial dramas that drag storylines out. And I'm not sure Maddie is fine; a hair change is a quick temporary pick-me-up, but her face is still the same "plain" one the tabloid picked on. I wonder if it's going to become some sort of "Maddie becomes slutty" thing, sleeping with a bunch of guys to make herself feel desirable or something. Or she'll start going out with way too much makeup and super-short and tight skirts on.

I'd hope they'd hold off on the sleeping with a bunch of guys storyline for Maddie for now, since the actress is only 15.

Well they answered that Maddie question last night.
Did I miss the episode where she had a thang for Luke's son? Because if I recall, they kinda loathed each other and didn't like the idea of their families becoming one and never once did he seem (or her for that matter) into her.
I get it if it was spontaneous and angsty, but they full-on liked each other out of the blue and went to her room and she kisses him. WTF, writers?
I called it when Teddy was paired up with a call girl. It's clearly going to be leverage for him to let his girls be signed with that other label, but the interesting thing to me is:
1) If he's propositioned on the subject like he was last night, and he's saying that he'll consider it...why? He should have said that they would clearly be with their mom's label.
2) The base talent of writing and playing guitar of the duo is Maddie. My money is on Deacon's shit hitting the fan if they try to bypass his parentage to Maddie and let's Teddy get the final say or approval. It could become void.
ABC needs to stop cross-promoting their other shows within a show.

So last night's episode. Is Terry the homeless going to disappear now that Scarlett's has her confidence back and got back up on stage? Because I'm going to be pissed if they just used the character to give Scarlett some depth.
I really hope Rayna and Deacon are over. She needs to get rid of Luke but I'm over their back and forth.
This show should just be the Juliette and Avery hour.

Well they just tied up a lot of things in a neat bow, didn't they? Even if that bow is messy and only gives more drawn-out plot lines.
So predictable, although I didn't see the one about Deacon coming.

Uh, try "8 minutes." I just watched the last episode and the last 8 minutes were so PACKED. I think the last 3 minutes of that were probably just credits too. 1. Luke and Rayna are no more. (I actually really liked him!) 2. Micah isn't Gunnar's but his brother's, so STILL FAMILY. 3. Layla is maybe dead? She was starting to be bearable with out of all people, JEFF, but she was super annoying at the party. 4. Jeff now has to cash in his "I know the mayor is sleeping with a paid escort" chip to make sure he doesn't get charged with doling out pills that may or may not have killed his one-time paramour. 5. Deacon may or may not have cancer. 6. YAY JULIETTE AND AVERY ARE BACK TOGETHER. Oh, and got married. Did I miss anything? Holy crap.

Sadie Stone got punched by her ex-boyfriend/husband! That was truly a shocking moment.

Wait till y'all see the first episode back from the mid-season break. I'm completely unsure what the time frame for the story lines are anymore. Some seem to pick up right where the mid-season finale left off, while others seem to be months in the future.
I still like this show, but let's face it, it's a mess.
