Anybody watching this? I've caught bits of it while waiting for Supernatural.
I don't know enough about the Comic Book (or Smallville version) to know how 'true to the book' this is being.
So far, I'm finding it kind of draggy and repetitive. Like, ok, the guy was missing and thought dead for FIVE YEARS. Not every character he crosses needs to bring up this fact or have it brought up to them.
So far the most interesting things are flashbacks to his time on the island. If they had more of that, I'd probably pay attention more.
I wonder if [speculation that could turn into spoiler] dead slam piece/ sister of ex-girlfriend/ daughter of police captain could turn up alive at some point. She's shown being thrown from the boat- doesn't mean she didn't wind up on an island of her own somewhere- right? Would be cool if they go there. [/end thinky thoughts]

I watched it and quite liked it. I never watched Smallville, so I don’t get the connection to that show. Neither do I read comic books, so I have no issues with "canon" and all the other things that get comic book geeks in a tither. At TWOP, they’re going on and on an ON about Smallville and whether so-and-so will turn out to be this or that comic book character. Ugh. For me, it was just an interesting story.
I actually have no issue with people talking about his five years on the island. In fact, I don’t think that’s being fussed over enough. He’s the male equivalent of Paris Hilton in her heyday – a rich, shallow celebutard. If she died in a shipwreck at her peak of fame and then turned up five years later, having survived alone on a deserted island, the paparazzi would be following her around nonstop. The stories would be endless. And if my friend or relative experienced such a thing, I’d be full of questions.
That said, I too am mostly interested in the island happenings. It’s kind of Revenge-y with is list of "people who done my dad wrong" thing, but that’s not bad. So far, I like it, but I can only take on so many new shows.

I am really liking Arrow. I appreciate that it has a much more serious tone than Smallville. I also like that the lead is decent right off the bat AND has chemistry with his leading lady. I think it should've been paired with Nikita though.

Never watched Smallville but I caught the pilot and thought it was decent. It's not mindblowing must-see TV or anything but it looks like it'll be a fun popcorn type of show. Stephen Amell is seriously RIPPED!

AHH! Now it's picking up some steam. Glad the nerdy blond picked up on the Hamlet vibes with the mom and stepdad, 'cause I'd been thinking that from episode one. Also glad Diggs seems to have been brought into the inner sanctum already. He is WAY too smart and keeping him in the dark any longer would have been totally unbelivable. Besides, the Arrow needs a trusty sidekick.

Good episode tonight. Much better than last week's.
I'm glad he brought Diggs to his lair. He needs help and all the disappearing was getting to be ridiculous. I bet we find out Diggs has suspected something was up, but wouldn't say anything.
I'm probably in the minority, but I don't want to see Oliver and Laurel together. He slept with her sister. That would be bad enough, but then they sneak off & the sister gets killed. There's no going back. I'd rather see her with Tommy. They are kinda cute together.
I liked the brainy, blonde computer geek. Hope she shows up again.

I think we're an ep behind you guys, but we're enjoying the show. I must say, though, that Laurel is annoying as hell.

Pre-island Oliver is super douchey.

I'm really liking this show. Love the relationship between Oliver and Diggs. Diggs is such a snarky badass! And I like the idea of Laurel with the friend and Oliver with the blonde geek girl too.

Hmm. I was all excited about the developments last week, but now it's gone back to silly and draggy. Ollie takes Diggs to his secret lair, saves his life and proposes they partner up... and Diggs response is to try and kick Ollie's ass then spend the rest of the episode pondering the proposal over a greasy meal in a greasy dinner before showing up to say "Ok!"... ... ... ...? Meh. I was watching this with my mom and got all excited at the beginning thinking Ollie would wind up in some insurmountable peril and then suddenly out of no where Diggs would come swooping in Han Solo style and save his hooded ass so they'd be all even stevens and could begin this partnership right. But no... they just talked about it.... a lot... Also, for all the intrigue about what Mom is up to- they seem to be giving too much away too soon. StepDad's already found HER secret lair (and her password is ROBERT? Fer reals Mom?) I can't decide if I like the Blonde Geek Girl or not. She's fun and quirky... but maybe too quirky. And she's also way too deep in everyone's secret's already. Also, it looks like from the previews that Laurel may stumble onto Ollie's secret as well. This doesn't bode well for a new show where the opening always states "No one must ever know my secret!".... and then everyone from the body guard to the the ex girlfriend to the best friend's neighbor's cat knows. Still, it'll be interesting to see how/if he gets out of his current pickle- being arrested and potentially exposed. I'm going to guess that Diggs will dress up like the Arrow and do some stuff while Ollie's locked up just to give them that "Why Queen CAN'T be the Arrow! We had him locked up!!!"... That's how it should go... but it almost looks like everyone who should never know his secret... will just know. (p.s. Did anyone else think Ollie's disguised voice sounded just like Jigsaw and he was going to tell Laurel "I want to play a game..."? )
