They're saying the hospital stay is just a precaution, but it seems risky to put a 99 yr old man around all that COVID. Though he probably used a private entrance and has a secluded suite.

Prince Charles went to visit Prince Philip today. I hope he went to visit him because he's a privileged Royal, but I actually think the reason is because Prince Philip is dying. I feel like this was an end of life visit that some hospitals (even mine) allow. Someone posted a picture of Prince Charles in the car after his visit, and his facial expression looks like other facial expressions I've seen when the family realizes their loved one might not make it.

I agree. I’m curious to see how the RF handles things if he does pass before the end of the pandemic.

I don't remember family visiting Philip during hospital stays before. It's so gruesome to speculate but you're right, Charles looks near tears in the car. Here's hoping its nothing.

Ouch. Apparently only "end of life" visits are allowed at UK hospitals right now? I don't think the RF would ignore that and assert their privilege, upsetting the general public just for a quick hello.

Now I'm wondering if the Sussex year end review was rushed because the BRF knew what was coming, and not because of the Oprah leak.

And Eugenie putting out name and photos today has me now thinking they wanted the baby’s name known should Philip be near end of life.
Of course that could just be coincidence and the baby was always going to have Philip in his name.

The more I think about it, I think that's exactly why the review was pushed forward. They would want all roles and functions to be settled and in order before a state funeral. Plus, I'm sure dealing with the Sussex issue is the last thing the Queen would want to do while in mourning (or have overshadow the memory of her husband).

Also, reports say Harry has been self-isolating to return to the UK and if true, I think that would only be the case if this was the end. I'm so sad now.

I think Philip's pretty near the end. Charles has tears in his eyes in the photo of him leaving the hospital, and I also think it's very telling that he visited at all. In normal times they don't usually visit, so I don't think he'd be doing it now if it wasn't very serious. Apparently, he'd travelled about 100 miles as well, which isn't allowed at the moment unless there are exceptional circumstances.

One of Eugenie's statements about the baby's name also said something along the lines of "thinking of my grandfather", which seems more emotional than they're usually prone to.

ETA: Harry would have to self-isolate after arriving here anyway, so I don't see the point of him isolating before he comes, unless he just wants to circumnavigate the rules...
