And there's still more stuff they weren't allowed to show on tv that they're going to put in the DVDs.
WHAT IS THE THING THAT IS WORSE THAN WHAT'S ALREADY ON THE SHOW. D: D: D:

Good move! I am addicted to this show but have to wrangle time to watch it as my wimpy husband finds it too disturbing. Speaking of disturbing, is it wrong that I find Mads Mikkelsen ever so attractive as Hannibal? I was just about to say go on Tumblr, but someone beat me to it. What I like about this show is that Mads does Hannibal the way I think Hannibal should have been played. I felt Anthony Hopkins seemed to be playing it sort of for laughs, too over the top; but Mads is Hannibal as seducer, Don Giovanni, the Marquis de Sade in a three piece suit. Hannibal is the type of man who will send you flowers every day, take you to nice places, treat you real good, but it's not because he's into you, it's because what he wants is for you to be dependent on him, for you to submit to him, because no one will ever treat you as good as he can, and before you know it, he's got you doing all kinds of weird shit. Kind of like Christian Grey, if Christian Grey were a serial killer. And those "Colombian neckties" really grossed me out because the tongue was moving!!! EWWWW. That freaked me out, and I watch Game of Thrones, so I don't get freaked out by gore, but that shit just did me in. Hannibal wants to make Will into his image, just like he wants to do for Abigail; remember what he said to Will about her, "we are her fathers now." I don't eat sheep Hannibal, but I do like to wear them, so what does that make me? Love the crack vids, and I love the one to "Toucha, Toucha, Touch." Too damn funny. When Will brought Dr. Gideon to Hannibal's home, I noticed there was a large bowl on the dining room table and there were what looked like three large eggs in the bowl, and I thought, "shit, dragon eggs!"

The hardest part of the episode for me was not the Colombian necktie, or watching a dude's organs harvested while he's awake - it was watching Will shake and sweat and twitch and on the verge of just curling up into a ball and sobbing, and yet NO ONE TAKES HIM TO THE HOSPITAL. I get that Hannibal is playing a game with him (I think he wants Will to break down entirely so he can be rebuilt as a killer) and that Will usually looks kinda rough, but seriously - what the hell is wrong with these people? Poor Will is so effed up right now that even his little mind pendulum thing is broken - it looked shorter and actually stopped mid-swing. I mean, thank god the guy shot Eddie Izzard outside Alana's house and then collapsed. It was pretty much the only way he was going to get medical care. Jack ignoring Will's problems comes straight from the book. Book Will is pushing himself to his mental and physical limits (Will had a nervous breakdown years before and ended up in a mental institution) when Jack has the following thoughts:

That was a great episode!
The opening scene in the oxygen chamber was intense.

That was a great episode! The opening scene in the oxygen chamber was intense. I agree, and that last scene. OMG, it broke my heart, not Abigail! And now we know a little more about Hannibal and Dr. DuMarier. So he referred a patient to her and that patient attacked her and "swallowed his tongue?" More like Hannibal ripped his tongue out and shoved it down his throat. I also noticed that she has an herb garden just like Hannibal has in his dining room; it's like he's a stalker. Every time they're in a session, she's always looking at her watch like, "is this hour over yet? She's probably glad when he leaves.

This episode was great because it feels like the first one where Hannibal's mask really slipped. It was clear this episode that Hannibal has his therapist blocked in a corner - I'm positive he knew that patient would attack her, and now they are locked into a secret where one or both of them killed the patient. She's not his therapist by choice, and he doesn't like it when she calls the shots (like the way he acted like a petulant child when she said he needed to leave Will alone. Don't take away his toy!).
Framing Will for his murders was clearly his plan B. I think he wanted Will as his little pet, stuck under his thumb, just like his therapist. But Will was talking to Georgia, and maybe she'll realize who she saw killing the doctor, so she had to go. But that was sloppy, because Will is now lucid enough (or was) to put the pieces together. So Plan B - someone has to go down, and it won't be Hannibal, so it will be the guy who can catch him.
And the final scene with Abigail was chilling because that was pure sociopath - sociopaths make no real connections with people. They can be good at faking it, but they don't actually feel anything for anyone. Ever. He doesn't care about Will or Abigail or anyone - they are simply toys to manipulate because he's curious about the outcome. And he's only been fascinated with Will because he has in abundance the one thing Hannibal doesn't have at all - empathy.

This was probably one of the least violent episodes and yet that burned alive death was one of the most disturbing. Someone on another site described it as a combination of being buried alive and set on fire at the same time and yeah, those are two of my nightmares.
Hannibal's explanation as to why he called Abigail's dad to warn him-he was curious to see what happened was chilling. Not to mention his line about how he was sorry he couldn't protect her in this life. Loved how his face was in shadows the whole time. He really is like a cat batting around mice with Abagail, Will and Bedelia DuMaurier. I hope we get a flashback as to what exactly happened with the patient. Although maybe not an explicit shot of the guy choking on his tongue. I think Gillian Anderson looks better as a redhead but as a blonde she definitely gives an icy Hitchcock vibe. I know the DuMaurier is an homage to Daphne DuMaurier. Anyone know what Bedilia is a reference to?
