It's gotten better, technically, in that the show has remembered that it is a show about a dome. And the fire fighter boyfriend of the cop is hot. So that's also something.
why, why, why couldn't they have just made a really really tight mini-series of this?

The firefighter is hot. Goodness. I had to do a double take, like dayum girl. You done good.
It has gotten better. I enjoyed last night's ep, though I still don't like the special kids who saved them from the missile. They annoy me.

How did the kids save them from the missile?
I still think it's a weak, weak show. The cop tells the crowd to stay behind the tape and keep electronics away from the dome, and she runs under the tape and kisses it? Plus, her boyfriend has a tablet right next to it and she doesn't freak? Sure, it's likely that electronics only fry inside the dome, but she doesn't know that because - peeve number 2 - no one tells them anything.
And the size of the town makes no sense. Ther were a couple hundred people in the shelter ( where, presumably everyone went), yet it has a hospital, so I would assume at least a couple thousand people live there. Where are they?

Yeah, this show is a mess. I had very high hopes due to the promo articles but they have all been dashed. It's not character driven like the book was but seems to be doing "monster of the week" plots. I don't think the acting is too bad but the writing is terrible.

In the book was Big Jim a little more concerned with the fact that his son had a prisoner in the bomb shelter? The t.v. version didn't seem to thing it was a big deal at all.

In the book (and don't read if you're eating), {Spoiler}the Angie character is dead right when the Dome hits. Another woman finds her body, and finds Junior, who kills the other woman too. But that doesn't stop Junior from having sex with the bodies! Big Jim is also busy spinning the 17 other plates he has going... under the dome!!!

I think Angie and the other woman are in a kitchen pantry, in the book, and Big Jim doesn't even know about her or the other.

I watched the series over the past few days (ff over the soap opera-ish scenes,) trying to hit the major plots. The bottom line is except for the name, this is baring very little on the book.
I wish I could just watch it as a fun good sci-fi summer mini series, but it is dreadful. Too much googley eyes, too many plot holes...just too boring. I like the two kids that have seizures, I like Barbi, I like the woman cop....that's about it. I marginally like the town mayor, which is a bad thing because he is the baddest bad ass in the book.
(Shoulda skipped over....town doc dying of diabetes complications dancing one last dance with her black, bald, lesbian partner. If you are dying because you are out of insulin, is exercising the best idea? Then she delivers a baby to a woman who we have never seen before, and then dies, but not before ANOTHER heart felt dying scene with her daughter.).
Note to non-Steven King woman who wrote this dreck, WE DON'T CARE! More sci-fi, less Bold and the Beautiful.
Eta...oh no's! There are THIRTEEN episodes, and there is supposed to be a SECOND season? WTF? They already found the little dome....Shit, I fear all that is left is more dancing of bald black lesbian diabetics. Tisk, I may be out after all.....

The black actress has always worn her hair that way. Not because she's playing a lesbian.

Hey Witchie, in the Seinfeld tradition, "Not that there is anything wrong with that." Just the tiny town the has the diabetic doctor with a black partner who dances with her as she lays dying, she delivers a baby, then dies for real. I guess they could have made the black partner a double amputee who fought with Barbi in the Gulf War, and is the mother of the Asian boy who saved the daughter who was kidnapped by the deputy's son..,. But you get my drift I hope. Too much "stuffing", not enough meat.
