I just finished the season. I sobbed when everything went down in the cafeteria. Sobbed. I'm terrible about reading spoilers but from the early reactions in this thread I wanted to be fresh so I didn't know and it hit me hard. Wow. I have a lot to process. I finished the season last night and I'm still processing it as well. There is A LOT to process. I also went into the season unspoiled and so when everything happened in the cafeteria I was in shock. I was yelling at the screen for Bailey to get off of her, and crying. I rarely ever have that kind of reaction to a show or movie. Poussey was my favorite. However, I continue to not give one fuck about Piper or Alex.

I really liked the season, but I wished there was more Taystee/Poussey scenes. At the end it wasn't Soso who was screaming in the cafeteria over what happened, it was Taystee. But we barely had any scenes between them.
I think they're running the risk of having way too many characters. its getting tough to see certain characters or they're short changing them because of new ones. This would easily be solved if Piper and Alex left, AHEM.

Holy shit, I did NOT see that coming with Daya. Damn.
As usual, I echo what y'all said. This season was SO much better than last, but, yes. Too many inmates at this point. I missed Sophia the most. Get rid of the meth heads that no one cares about, too.
That's being said, holy hell. I can't wait for next season.

That one white supremacist seemed to be getting less uh....supreme, about her race......I wonder if that'll be part of the next season.

If Litchfield was a better prison, Poussey and Sophia could have entertained the inmates with a Lip Sync Battle

Shameless bump due to the release of Season 5. I binged it yesterday. Sad that there were only 13 episodes, when for some reason, I expected 14. No spoilers, I promise. I won't say anything except for that I LOVED the fact that certain previous backseat characters were given significant story lines this time around.
Following up from last season and the whole "They didn't say her name!" thing: I'm not sure of the timeline of completion in the previous season, but do you think that the writers could have been making reference to the Sandra Bland case? If not, and if the timing would have made that impossible, that's just eerily coincidental.

Just finished the season. It hit a few wrong notes for me in the scenes with {Spoiler}Piscatella torturing them. It felt a lot like a women-in-distress horror movie. And him sneaking in there with a gun and a knife to torture them is pretty ridiculous anyway. And I'm a little disappointed not to have covered more ground because I feel like last year's cliffhanger is basically this year's cliffhanger as well. Daya continues to be the lamest character on the show. I'm glad her stupid, mopey ass wasn't around much in the second half. I think Leanne and Angie may truly be the most evil characters. They aren't the most violent, but they never miss an opportunity to hurt or cause problems for everyone else. They seem to have no empathy for others whatsoever. I hope Suzanne keeps her distance from The Elephant Man. You can't trust someone who won't hesitate to {Spoiler}blow air in someone's IV and give them a stroke, even if he deserves it. And the ending! I felt like it was a little contrived to {Spoiler}have the women adopt the most aggressive-looking stance they could just because the show wanted an emotional ending. And it also seemed contrived to let us know that the riot-quashers are evil and violent and itching to kill someone. Overall, I enjoyed the season. However, it's not going to go down as one of my favorite seasons. There's nothing I want to go back and watch again, and there were no moments like in last season that will really stay with me.

However, I continue to not give one fuck about Piper or Alex. A year later, this is still true. I just finished this season and...I feel like not much really happened? I was also happy that some of the more secondary characters got some more air time this season, especially "Flaritza." Those two are always entertaining. It had its moments like this show always does, but for the most part I was underwhelmed by the season overall. ETA: Ginger, I agree with your first spoiler. I had issue with that as well.

So those of you who have watched the new season: what would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10?
I was considering not watching it. There's a ton of good tv out there and I am having trouble making it to all of it--watching this means I'm pushing other stuff off. I also am a little wary of Jenji Kohan's track record. I loved the first few seasons of Weeds but, man, did that show lose its way. It felt like that might be happening here. And finally, I'm a little traumatized by Poussey's fate and don't know if I am ready to go back to Litchfield.
