Of course not. You can only express an opinion if everyone else agrees with it or deems it politically correct. /sarcasm Topic: I LOVE Common. I have since he was MC Common Sense and with the Un-American Caravan. His CD "Can I Borrow A Dollar?"--CLASSIC! Love, love, love his new single. Will definitely be getting the CD as soon as I can. If you want to hear some hip-hop that isn't the same ol' same, definitely check him out. bisonchiefnole, I'm from Chicago so I too share your long time love of Common and his music!

I have no "evidence" that Common is a closet case. It's just my personal opinion or gaydar. And homophobes are often times closet cases, or at the very least, uncomfortable with their own sexuality.

It is so good to see someone else who knows who he is! Do you know what I was shocked by, but really enjoyed? All the love his song "I Used To Love H.E.R." got in that movie, "Brown Sugar." That movie left a lot to be desired, but it was good to see real hip-hop get some recognition.

I still wanna know what exactly it is he is supposed to have said and when and where he said it. He used to have homophobic lyrics on his albums. On EC, he had song that talked about a friend coming out to him. linkHere's another one where he talks about it: link

Kanye is looking ever more unoriginal in comparison to his fellow Chicagan.
So Common spoke about homophobia in hiphop and outed himself as a reformed and repentant ex-homophobe like 5 years ago.
I have "Electric Circus". I love everything about that album and the lyrics are so inspired.

More like 2 years. 5 years ago, he still had a couple of lyrics that could be seen as homophobic.
I wasn't surprised when Kanye signed him to his label. They're two peas in a pod. Both of them have said things that I don't agree with and can contradict themselves from time to time.

He opened for AKeys and John Legend. He's boring. But I loved his flow on Jada's "Why?" remix.

That movie left a lot to be desired, but it was good to see real hip-hop get some recognition. He was considered underground for almost a decade so I guess we shouldn't be surprised that so many people have never heard of him. His recent commercialization (which I hope won't change him) has brought him what I think is well deserved recognition. As for Brown Sugar -- I couldn't agree more!
