Funny seeing him on the front page. He apparently played an inmate in the "Prison Break" series premier last night. Recorded it but haven't had two hours to dedicate to watching it yet. Heard he was pretty good.
By the way, have loved his sensitive relationship lyrics for years and his whole relationship with Erica Badu (it ended when she got pregnant by someone else--IIRC) made me hate her and love him even more. Glad to see he'e growing up where homosexuality is concerned.

I heard that that relationship with Eryka was rocky from the start with them arguing in hotel lobbies etc.
Well he wrote "The Light" for her and that is my favorite jam and the sweetest song. I wish I could met a man who would say all those things to me.

Sorry, this is probably O/T, but... I think the term "homophobia" is seriously over-used. If I understand it correctly, it's supposed to refer to the fear of or aversion to homosexuality, and often because the "phobic" person is hiding something themselves. Shouldn't there be another word to describe people who are against homosexuality for other reasons (whatever they might be -- because they think it's wrong, because it would displease Xenu, because it goes against their philosophy of life or doesn't aesthetic please them or WHATEVER)? I'm not trying to say anything negative about homosexuality, or anything positive about rappers who use gay-related terms like insults left and right. I just believe that people have the right to their own opinions, whatever they are, and that lumping them all in as if they are cowering in psychological fear because they don't like something is unfair.
Topic: Common is fantastic. What happened with Eryka Badu? Details!

iwantquail You make excellent points. I concur.
Topic: I love the fact that Common is laid back and has thus far maintained his individuality in an industry full of unoriginal clowns and clones.

Details? I won't tell. It was just a rocking relationship.
But indeed he did loved her and she did loved him. It just was too crazy to work out. And it didn't work out.
But like I said at least a really good song that everybody loves came out of it. "The Light". I chill to it. I think of people I really love (even just those real forever friends I haven't seen in ages) whenever I hear it. That song is a star.
