Exactly. To me, he should be like the Krycek of the series.

Yeah, Ward is much more interesting as a baddie. I really hope they don't try to redeem him. I don't mind him occasionally doing something for SHIELD, more specifically for Skye, but I prefer him a bit more lone-wolf bad guy. I do kind of miss the beard, though. And I am curious about who is telling the truth, Ward or his brother?

And I am curious about who is telling the truth, Ward or his brother? I may have watched Ward's shaving scene a few thousand times. Ahem. I can't help myself - the actor's physicality in that scene just rings my bell. And yes, he must remain essentially evil with the now and then spark of doing good stuff for the team/Skye just to keep things off-balance and interesting for the heroes of the show. I hope that Grant is lying (and not his older brother) because it makes him that much more twisted, unhinged and sociopathic than previously thought. It would be fabulous to see a physically attractive yet absolutely monstrous character be a series regular on TV - one that constantly keeps us all guessing. But, I have a feeling that it could be that both are lying. Big brother may have initially bullied/tortured the littles as Grant said, but I strongly suspect that Grant got a little too into it after awhile and perhaps the student surpassed the teacher.

Well now. Grant Ward, you are my favorite psychopath...though daddy Skye might be a close second. I have to admit that I did not give a rat's ass about the actual S.H.I.E.L.D mission. I was all about Whitehall, evil Skye daddy, and evil Ward. The villains on this show are fantastic.
This episode was revolting in some scenes, and I really felt terrible about what happened to Skye's mom. Poor thing. So clearly Ward and Skye daddy are going to take down Whitehall. Awesome. Wonder what fate awaits him? Immolation? He certainly deserves something as painful as possible, both psychologically and physically.

It's fun to see how they're skating around Ward being both good and evil. His brother (and mother) were both awful, but Ward is no angel considering how he pretended to sort of forgive his brother and then you get the end reveal. Wicked!
I missed part of the end, though. Was Skye's mom the woman who Whitehall took apart? In that case ... ooooooohhhhhhhh! That makes things even more interesting!

Was Skye's mom the woman who Whitehall took apart? In that case ... ooooooohhhhhhhh! That makes things even more interesting! Yup. That wicked end to Ward's family is why he's my favorite psychopath. Ha. Of course, we are assuming that Ward's brother was telling the truth and not just saying whatever the hell he could to avoid being left in a dark hole to die a slow death. For all I know, Ward's brother was telling the truth originally, and Ward just killed his family because he's as much of a psychopath now as he was when he was a kid. This is what I love about how this character is being written. He could be making everything up, and yet the audience is constantly trying to find reasons for him being this way. Same with Evil Skye Daddy. And yes, Skye's mom was the one picked apart by Whitehall. That was actually really hard to watch. Get 'em Evil Skye Daddy and Evil Ward!

wow, that was an action-packed midseason finale! LOVED that Sky shot Ward - I didn't see that coming - and have to admit I'm glad he's not dead because he's a good villain and should be interesting teaming up with imposter May. That scene at the end with the obelisk [?] was pretty intense. I'm sad about Trip and curious about Sky and Raina. Not sure what Raina transformed into. I question if Whitehall if really dead - and the guy in the final scene creeped me out.
Kyle Maclachlan is really perfect for his role - he does crazy and yet somehow sincere in the same scene and runs the gamut of emotions. Favorite line: "Best day ever!"

Skye shooting Ward single-handedly redeemed EVERY past misstep they've ever made with her character. That. Was. Awesome. I love, LOVE that they took the "tragic bad boy" thing and had the heroine literally shoot it down with extreme prejudice. I like Ward as a wild card character and I'm glad they seem to be keeping him that way.
This show really deserves the "most improved" award. I thought it was Blandy McBland when it first started, but I'm completely hooked now and I can't wait to see where they take things from here.

Would they really kill off Trip on the tv series, though? That seems extreme. He was the one in the Winter Soldier film, right? Or am I completely getting confused? Maybe Skye or Raina will have some restorative power, although maybe not, since the transformation didn't even include the ability to restore Skye, since she still had the little cut on her cheek.
I loved Skye shooting Ward. That really was awesome. And the guy without the eyes at the end was Peter Wingfield, AKA Methos, wasn't it? Too bad he's eyeless. I'm sure after all these years, he'd still bring some pretty.
