Jamie Dornan to play Christian GreyWhile I wasn't that impressed with his acting on Once Upon a Time which is the first and only thing that I've seen him act in, as far as I know, I really hope this doesn't end up killing whatever acting career he has going now. However, I do like the possibility of all the fan art/memes/fiction that might come out now with a OUaT and FSoG crossover since I think that there's some very creative and snarky fans in the OUaT fandom.

I haven't read Fifty Shades of Grey, but when I read that he was being considered for the role I thought he would be a shoo-in. I agree that he was wooden on OUaT but he was amazing in The Fall, a small Belfast-based TV show where he played a serial killer with a wife and two little kids. The hot/creepy dichotomy he had going on was seriously disturbing. And now I'm worried about what will happen with the second series of The Fall since he's going to be tied up with this piece of shit.
He's pretty enough to appeal to the people who were set on Matt Bomer, he's shown that he's good in this kind of role (I'm pretty sure that he's been cast based on The Fall) and I can actually see how why his people would think that this would be a good career move for him.

Having seen The Fall, he is just way, way to good for this, unless they're throwing out the book and starting again.
I hope this doesn't destroy his career. And I'm also worried that he won't be available for second series of The Fall, which though it was at times ridiculous was very entertaining.

Good luck to him :-) I've never seen him act and only know who he is because I remembered he dated Keira Knightley a long time ago.

He reminds me of Ashton Kutcher. Better looking, but I see Ashton at most angles.

One of the big problems with Elizabeth Berkley and Showgirls was not only the movie being viewed as bad and overtly sexual, but that she wasn't very far removed from being a regular on Saved by the Bell. It was just too much for people to take in the mid-nineties, for her to go straight from Jessie Spano to running around topless onscreen and having dolphin sex with Kyle MacLachlan. It's a different time, so I think the raciness would be less of an issue even if the FSoG movie flops, but it probably helps that the stars are working actors who've come into their fame as adults, for the most part. But if it Ana and Christian were being played by...I don't know, the iCarly girl and Neville from Harry Potter, or something, it wouldn't just be that they were playing out the tampon scene, or whatever, but all the baggage attached to seeing a former child/teen star enacting scenes like that.
I'm surprised Jamie would agree to take on this role. I hope the pay is a little higher than the $125,000 Hunnam was allegedly offered.

He was/is INCREDIBLE in The Fall. So sexy, and yet you hated yourself for finding him sexy (given that he was a serial killer), and he played it brilliantly. I have no interest in this movie, but The Fall made me a fan, so I hope that for his sake, the movie isn't an embarrassment. I don't know why but just the fact that he took it on makes me think it might not be a total piece of shite.

Well, good luck with that dude. Unless they reworked the script to not be 50 Shades, it's going to be shit. I hope he can work that sexy/dangerous vibe while writing 100+ pages of sex-contract negotiations over email, carrying a roofied?/passed out girl covered in puke home to his lair, and forcing her, his sex slave, to go on the pill. And then there's the sex van/crack whore Mom scene. So sexy, so dangerously romantic!

So let's start a pool on what Dornan's excuse for dropping out will be. Hunnam already used "scheduling conflicts" and "I don't want to be seen as a sex object", so Dornan will have to get creative.
They're just not going to quit with the Fifty Shades, are they? The movie is supposed to be released in late 2014 and the Fifty Shades craze is cooling off. It will be ice cold by the time the movie is ready to be released. By then, a Fifty Shades flick will make about as much sense as Pet Rock: The Movie.
