I'm still going with PR stunt.
Just found this post on Reddit from 2 years ago when it all started. Timeline played out pretty much how they thought it would:

I’m sorry it looks like a classic PR 101 publicist/agent orchestrated relationship. The day the wedding photo dropped all the media outlets that covered it dropped their articles like clock work as if it was prepared & scheduled; agreed upon to go out on that date. Book Smart didn’t perform as commercially well as Wilde had hoped. Harry is the IT guy right now riding the commercial success of his recent album. He’s starring in Wilde’s next film. In my opinion their “relationship” will be a promotional tool for “Don’t Worry Darling” the press tour will be all about them. Will they remain together post its theater run/ awards season if it makes it that far? I doubt it lol"

The majority of their pap walks were Backgrid photos that pushed Pleasing, Gucchi, DWD, and Harry's House. For me it'll be how long it takes for Olivia to start slagging Harry. They're "friends" now but I imagine a narrative shift soon. Maybe in a few months she and Jason will "reconnect". Who knows.

Plus the "pap" photo that was used to announce the relationship was taken at his manager's wedding, which was held at private resort. How did a random paparrazo get into a private event at a private location and get a close-range, head-on shot of Harry and Olivia?

I think the PR relationship was only supposed to last until the release of the movie. But, that timeline got extended by a year because of COVID.

Real or fake, that relationship was over as soon as Harry's carefully cultivated image started to take a hit.

I think it was 100% real. I think she's exactly his type, and as far as her preferences - well, he's Harry Styles. And given the weird confines of a filmmaking scenario - I would have been surprised if something HADN'T happened.

I don't think either (or the movie's fortunes) are better off for the experience, though.

I don’t think this was a PR relationship — none of this was good PR. I can’t see any PR rep worth anything being on board with a rollout that leaves room for a homewrecking angle, the incredible toxicity it stirred up in his fandom (not great for ticket sales if his fans hate her guts), and the whole fiasco with Florence and DWD promo. Nothing that happened here serves Olivia in advancing her career as a director. Women don’t get as much slack for messiness.

I don’t think there are as many fake couples as the internet thinks there are. But real couples can use their relationships strategically. I do think they could have hit the skids earlier and hung on until after DWD to avoid being asked about MORE interpersonal drama.

(Also, Backgrid is the biggest photo agency in the business, and most pictures are your regular paparazzi. Not all photos available through Backgrid are set ups, but set up pics — like Rihanna’s pregnancy rollout — do end up on Backgrid given its market share. There’s one agency that routinely shows up for reality stars’ staged pics, but its name is slipping my mind. ETA it’s StarTracks.)

I think it was a real relationship that Olivia attempted to use for PR. There'd been rumors for pretty much the entire time she was with Jason Sudekis that he cheated on her non stop. I had started hearing chatter questioning why she put up with all of it for so long - it started to make her look weak and needy. I think she was ready to end that relationship, but needed the courage given the kids involved. Meeting Harry gave her that courage. Once that was done, she wanted to go in big to not just move on with her life, but to let the world know that she was the one who left Jason.

I would have gone for Chris Pine esp with his Italian banker hair. I think it was a real relationship, but with an eye toward the PR benefits both could reap from it. So not one for the long-haul.

Oh yes - I remember blind items (later revealed) about Jason cheating on Olivia.

Olivia was planning to fight Sudeikis so she could move herself and her kids to London at the end of next year, so I think the relationship was serious on her end. She can drop that now and stay in LA.

More and more, this situation is reminding me of Meg Ryan, Russell Crowe, and Dennis Quaid. Doesn't matter how big a shitbag the man is; the woman is the one who ends up paying.
